John's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Brentwood

I have been going to this ice cream place for quite some years and starting off on a good note, it was always a really good, friendly, small town, parlor vibe.. Sadly, in the past 2 years it has gone SO down hill. Now, i am not the type to write a horrible review unless absolutely deserved. I mean really we are all human and have bad days even bad experiences, thats "just life"!! I have never had such bad experiences with food industry staff as I have here. Let's begin... In the short of the backstory, I had just picked my sister in-law from her first treatment of chemo. She just became a leg amputee from a rare form of cancer.. So i decided to take her to get ice cream after her 4 day hospital stay. It was a Friday, a pulled in the lot @ 11:57 am (they open at noon). The girl that was opening for the parlor, which seemed to be alone, putting out the chairs and small tables out front was waking out as I reached for the door. It was apparent she was unhappy, no smile and frankly just RUDE. when I asked her what time they opened she abruptly replied "TWELEVE!!" at this point it was 11:59 am LITERALLY. She had me wait outside by the door until exactly 12!! And honestly, I get it, she may have opened the shop alone, and there are certain protocols for safety etc. So 12 hits, and I walk inside, I am the only one there and the music that was playing was so loud and poor taste (for a ice cream parlor), Im not even sure how someone can function in that environment. Mind you I am still the only customer. So i make eye contact with the girl and explain i needed two sperate, double scoops, but both the same type in each. I said, " one will have a scoop of "Rocky Road" AND a scoop of "Cookie Dough" and the second one will be identical, the order of which goes first doesn't matter".. So I'm standing there, looking around, poke my head out the door to make sure my Sis In-Law was okay..Then I see the girl about to put lids on them , visually they looked messed up.. She had put two scoops of cookie dough, in one cup, and two scoops of rocky road in the other .. * FACE PALM, SMH*. I stopped her and explained the correct way i had asked for it. so she looks at me with such attitude, you would have thought I told her she was grounded, as if i was her parent.. So she proceeds to fix them correctly, rings me up, I pay.. and hands me my order.. This girl did NOT smile or have a pleasant attitude the WHOLE time I was there.. So as I was walking out , I looked her right in the eyes and said, " Your attitude sucks, little girl"!!! Unfortunately, that wouldn't be the last experience, encountering this bad attituded staff member. The second encounter was only a few weeks later. I went to pick up two 1/2 gallon sized "pre packaged" ones they have in an open access freezer. . This day if i remember correctly it was late afternoon, mid-week, I walk in, no customers, except myself. The music was blaring like before. I see that their stock of pre-made pints of ice cream was completely out of every flavor. So i catch the girls attention and say, "May i get a 1/2 gallon of rocky road, AND one of cookie dough, please". And the same girl with a scowl expression shouts from across the parlor, " We are out of Rocky Road"! So I quickly respond with "Chocolate and Peanut Butter". As she starts getting my order, I just stand there, thinking to myself. How or why is this girl the front face of this parlor?... Like do her mangers or even the shop owner know just exactly how poor of an attitude she has?? I begin to check out and pay. Drive to my sister in-laws, pull both from bag, and start serving.. only come to find out she gave me REGULAR CHOCOLATE. At this point, I take it personally and decided to write this review..

Either send that girl to proper food industry etiquette, or send her packing. berceuse i refuse to step foot...

I absolutely love coming to John's ice cream. And right now, they have a coupon where you can get your Scoops for $1 like back when they first opened. I've been allowed to use my digital coupon, for the last four times that I've come into the shop. However, today when I came into the shop the two girls that were working absolutely refuse to take my digital coupon. They told me I had to go home and print the coupon if I wanted to use it. So I did. And I printed enough for every person in my family to have five Scoops. Since the coupon has a 5 scoop limit. Usually, when I use my digital coupon, I only get 5 Scoops. So I have to think these girls for forcing me to drive home and print a coupon... So that I could get as many scoops as I wanted for myself and my children.

I'm really disappointed in the shop right now. As I started out saying, I absolutely love coming to John's ice cream... But don't have a coupon online, if you're not willing to...

Customer service is usually always good here, I got helped by Kaliyah and idk if it’s cause she’s new but she gave me attitude when I asked to try their new flavor, she didn’t speak loud/clearly and whenever I go to this place I make sure to be an easy customer cause ik what it’s like working at an ice cream parlor lol. But her attitude just made it seem like I was giving her a hard time. My bf asked for a coffee which was also super strong and I appreciate her for always checking the menu to make sure it’s being made right, but every time she walked back and forth she would look at us and give us a face. Again I’m not sure if it’s cause she’s new but it was like she was trying to avoid helping us. Again customer service is usually always good and the short lady is always so sweet and patient, but this time...
