It was nice. They have a huge variety of items for different hobbies from painting, sewing, jewelry making, and more. Sometimes they will have the odd item I was looking for that I couldn't find somewhere else. The prices aren't really cheap, just what you would expect but they have deals and coupons so planning those into your shopping with be very helpful if you want to save money. They have a huge parking area in the front and the store normally isn't too crowded.
However, I do have to agree that a large portion of the store is decor or holiday related. It does make it seem like there is a bit less hobby and although they have a good variety, some areas for certain hobbies are very small with only basic items for them I wouldn't say it is only if you were getting started and not if you were really advanced. Although it is such a large store, it feels fairly empty. As mentioned before it normally isn't too busy which is nice, but it is extremely difficult to find a staff member of I need help.
The staff members really depend on who you end up finding. Sometimes you get someone nice, friendly, and knowledge on the layout and products, but other times you do not. I remember asking someone about paint and they had no clue. It was fine they couldn't answer my question but when I asked if they could find me someone who did they didn't come back. Another tried to argue with me when I had to return paint trying to say I used the paint already when it wasn't ever opened. Other times you get someone really nice who can help you and that is great. Other times the are staff members that might be having a bad day and they can be a little rude or rough if you ask for help.
So it has a good selection of products for an okay price. They have coupons regularly which is a plus. The staff is a hit or miss, sometimes you find someone nice, sometimes you find...
Read moreI believe this store replaced the Old Navy store (or some other clothing store) that used to be here.. Anyhow, my cousin and I planned to purchase some items from Hobby Lobby on a Sunday and.... surprise! they were closed! I have not yet seen a big department store like Hobby Lobby be closed on Sundays. There were other customers who went at the same time we did and were surprised (and, of course, disappointed) as well.
Anyhow, we went to the store a few days later and they messed up on my cousin's discounted coupon pricing. After waiting for over 5 minutes for a manager, I realized that they do not have an automatic-retrieval coupon system in their computers like Costco does. Instead, each item and coupon code have to be individually matched. Anyhow, my cousin ended up purchasing a few items which she could not apply the coupons on due to the "small print". I do not believe the products here were super cheap compared to a store like Michaels and I disliked their store arrangement (too big of a warehouse and too hard to find things quickly). Their store layout an atmosphere is just like that of a huge thrift store... Not too appealing to shop around in for extended periods of time.
Overall, this store does not appeal to me and I'd rather see another more useful store be situated at this central shopping...
Read moreI love the store. The place is a lot cheaper than Michael's. There was a time I needed help for a project at my school. I had no idea what to make , the people there would give suggestions and gave me idea what to make. It was for one of my Drama class in Los Medanos College. They are so helpful, I actually got an A for my class. I would stop by on sunday once in a while totally forgot that they closed on Sundays. It made me realized how nice of the owners there to let their workers get their days off on sundays. SO I had to go to Michael's instead. Another time, I needed to replaced our bathroom towel rack and they got all sorts creative ideas that Michael's does not have. I would strongly suggest people who have creative ideas to stop by here first then Michaels then Joanns. But most of the time, you will find what you need and more here...
