Tonight we visited the Spanish Potatoe. I didn't know what to expect, but after this visit, it's my new favorite restaurant!!! We walked in and were promptly seated. John was our waiter, he exceeded every waiter I've ever met in even the finest of restaurants. John placed my napkin on my lap, brought my platter out and placed a nice serving size on my plate in front of me, & always made sure my drink of hot water was full. The food was exceptional and the portions huge! We ordered the octopus salad and it was delicious. The leek soup was a lovely surprise, it reminded me a little, of a cross between a thin split pea and potatoe soup. I ordered the flank steak rare, it was the best flank steak I've ever eaten. Flank steaks are usually very thin, this was a perfect thickness; it was meaty, flavorful, juicy, and tender! I was glad the chimichuri was on the side, because I don't always like it, but it was amazing. If you don't typically like chimichuri, try it!!! The rice and beans that came with the meal were cooked perfect and flavorful & the plantains were so amazing, we asked for a second order, to take home with our leftovers. Dessert? Heck yeah.... I ordered the flan and it was exactly 100% authentic flan. I loved it! John put on a fresh pot of coffee and I even loved the coffee, not too strong, not weak. There wasn't one thing I could criticize about my experience here. Even when John poured my coffee, he held a napkin in front of the pot so it wouldn't splash on me while being poured. My fiance paid the bill and remarked to me, that the pen said "The Spanish Potatoe" on them. I told him to take it because they like to advertise their buisiness. My fiance thought that would be stealing, so he didn't take it. On my way out, I told John that I'm a nurse and love pens, then asked him If I could take one. He said, "I'll be right back". Then came back with a bag of maybe 20 or more pens, (I didn't count them). I highly recommend this restaurant, & I can be harsh in my reviews...The food, the service, the atmosphere couldn't have been better! I have a new favorite place at the Spanish Potatoe & I can't wait...
Read moreWe found this restaurant on line and were intrigued with the menu. All our favorites from restaurants up north were there and a few other items to tantalize us into going. I called and made a reservation and bought a bottle of wine, as this is a BYOB establishment. This typically tells me the food will be the star, as they aren't concerned with trying to sell me over priced cocktails, which proved to be the case. I was greeted with a smile, shown to a lovely table and our server Tim appeared very quickly and engaged us delightfully as he opened our wine, brought us waters and told us about all the special selections that Chef Manny had as options that night.
We chose 3 appetizers: Escargot, Mushrooms stuffed with crab meat, and chorizo. All three were delicious and the chorizo was a special treat because they cook it at the table in a special dish and make it crispy to perfection on the outside. Between the three choices and a some delicious bread we were pretty full, but knowing leftover are always a choice we pushed on.
We had a three pound lobster and Paella done two different ways. The lobster was outstanding and the paella was fantastic. Loaded with delicious saffron rice and the most exquisite fresh ingredients, including shrimp, scallops, mussels, lobster, clams, and more chorizo it was a flavor feast out of this world. We did our best but these pots of food were our match and we ended up stuffed and going home with big portions of food to be savored at another time.
Tim saw how delighted we were and had Chef Manny come by to get our compliments and feedback. He was pleasant and proud and we were glad that we had the chance to tell him how much we enjoyed the meal and how much we were looking to come back and try the other sumptuous items...
Read moreThis place is awesome! We went at 2:30, not realizing they had "Twilight Dinners". Great meals at a great price and awesome service. They couldn't have been friendlier, more accommodating or more attentive. We had salad bar, which is things like eggplant, olives, quinoa salad, pasta salad, a few different kinds of bean salad. Delicious mushrooms, roasted peppers, and so much more and of course their "Spanish Potato"... Which is kind of thicker sliced fried potatoes.. Delicious! Then also included is your soft drinks, soup of the day.. We had pea soup, appetizers.. Again delicious, the entree, which you could choose from about 12-15 different meals. Everything from wild boar, which one of our friends had and said was delicious, fall off the bone tender, lamb that me husband's had that was also tender and juicy and he couldn't get enough of. Another friend and I had shrimp in a butter, garlic sauce, that was served with a platter of Spanish rice and Spanish potato. After these awesome dinners also included was coffee and dessert. I took home enough food for another meal that my son ate right away and he loved it also. I will be going back again and trying some of the other things in the menu. They had seafood paella, chicken a few different ways, pork chops, beef and there was something for almost everyone. I don't know about vegan... I didn't look at the menu that hard. But check it out, the food, atmosphere and people are all worth the trip. It was more than a meal, it was...
