A surprisingly nice dine-in experience with very good service and good but average food.
After ordering delivery from Little Sicily hundreds of times, I finally ate in the dining room. I was pleasantly surprised with the experience. I had not realized how nice the dining room is, as it is a separate room from where you pick up a pizza if you take out. There's a TV and a whole bunch of chairs and tables (duh) and then a separate room off to the side for larger parties. The restaurant was much busier than I expected as well. It was full of Bridgeport locals, many of whom were clearly regulars. The bathrooms were also very clean and smell good.
I don't know our server's name, but she was very good. She was quick to take our orders, refilled our beverages, checked on us a few times unintrusively and brought us the check swiftly. And she was quite busy.
I started with the fried calamari which was a special appetizer. It was good. I find that Little Sicily's sauce lacks some flavor, so I added some hot pepper and Parmesan to it which really made it better.
Next, I had a salad, which came with my entrée. The salad was good, and the blue cheese dressing was very good. The dressing was nice and thick with a lot of blue cheese in it.
I had the veal piccata. The portion was huge. It came with my choice of pasta (penne or spaghetti) or fries, and I chose penne in the same sauce as the veal, rather than something with red sauce on the side. The veal was good, but not great. I thought the sauce was a bit lacking in flavor, and particularly in need of more capers. The penne was cooked well, and while the veal was a little bit thicker than I prefer when I make it, it was extremely tender. Overall, it was a good filling dish, and really a bargain at 14 or 15 bucks.
My friends had pizzas. One was the eggplant Florentine I think, with fried eggplant. The other was with spinach mushrooms Ricotta and maybe something else. As I said in my previous review, I like their pizza. However, my friends thought that the pizza, and particularly the sauce lacked some flavor. I did agree that it could have used some more garlic.
Ultimately, I was very pleased with my experience. I would like to go back and try some of their other pastas, as I think those are better tried in the restaurant then be a delivery. My local go-to for delivery. Pizza is always hot, fresh, and tasty. Good cheesesteaks. Fries are mediocre. Delivery is always very fast. Staff...
Read moreMe and my husband always try and find a good pizza spot that actually care about what they serve and First time we came it was great, we were greeted and had a good time so we decided to come again it was the same friendly staff had good conversation they remembered us and so for when mother day come along we decided to go with them but when we came they were rude and usually we order wings and we usually ask to make them as spicy as you can and I guess the owner the older man he always had no problem he would hook us up with Cayanne pepper and stuff but when we came it’s was just a lady with blonde hair kinda thick was rude and some small girl with black hair was saying we can’t do that it’s just your going have to wait a long time for your food and we don’t have time to do anything and it’s just hot sauce just add your own stuff and I was a little shock and the lady seem irritated and seem like she wanted us to hurry and order because everything thing I ask for she kept saying is that all, are you finish , you done and we decided not to come back after that experience we try and see if the same people we usually see was there to tell them the problem but they were not but after that we never order from them. I guess she forgets without customers Business won’t be good and not just saying me but in general just...
Read moreI grew up in KOP and was surprised to see how well some people rated this place. I guess it's an acquired taste that I never got in the 40 years I've lived there. Cheesesteaks are fairly good though and they do have a menu with many options, which is always a good thing. Their food is decent and depending on the day and whose working, their pizza can be at best average. Many times, you'll find the cheese will come off the entire slice within a bite or two. What Little Sicily has going for them, and always has been is the fact that they deliver, the have a loyal base, and they have good location which makes them a popular lunch spot for the massive amounts of employees that flock to KOP for work each day at the business campuses. Downside is they have virtually no parking since their delivery cars(corollas) take up the curb spots out front.
With many options in the area, such as Franzone's which is a 30 second ride away from Little Sicily or Famous George's in KOP, I certainly wouldn't call it a "go-to" spot although it is an average to possibly slightly above average place for Italian food. But as the saying goes "To each their own." Little Sicily certainly isn't...
