We came back again and were not disappointed. I ordered shrimp dim sum and the flavor was divine. The fried squid was as good as the first time. We tried the machine icecream this time and while the portion is small the flavor is actually quite lovely, and that is coming from someone who doesn't usually like mochi. My husband got the chicken katsu ramen this time and was very pleased with it. The tempura icecream is going to stay my all time favorite thing on the menu.
9/22/24 We visited for the first time with my husband and my inlaws. None of us had ever tried traditional ramen before coming to this establishment. While I'm giving 5 stars not everything was perfect, I'll start with the positives.
The atmosphere was certainly unique and there was a multi screen tv that played anime which was fun to watch while eating. The fried calamari was done in a unique way and honestly came across as baked instead of fried (lack of oil on the calamari is why I say this). Which for me was a huge positive. I also ordered the Tempura icecream which is basically fried icecream and the entire table was jealous they didn't order some themself. The icecream was of good quality and tasted amazing. I ordered Seafood Ramen, my mother inlaw ordered Miso pork ramen, and my husband ordered dandan ramen. The only negative comment made was that my husband didn't like the pork in the dandan, but tried the pork from his mother's miso and it tasted significantly better. Other positives included the spring rolls, which had a lovely sauce. Edamame was well done albeit more lightly salted than I am used to. My father inlaw had the crawfish rice platter and had nothing bad to say about it.
For the negatives: I order Takoyaki because I am a big fan of octopus, but the consistency of it was a let down for me. I'm not sure if it's meant to be soggy mush but that's what it was. Not to mention inside this large orb of mush was a single, very small piece, of octopus. The Shrimp "Buns" which came out looking similar to street tacos were interesting in image but the flavor was just not there. The shrimp also tasted charred which didn't help matters. I did not experience this issue with the shrimp in any of the other dishes. I ordered the BBQ skewers, specifically scallop. Keep in mind they charge $3.50 for one. I was shocked when I was served what appeared to be a single scallop cut into 4 pieces on a stick. I cannot make a comment on what the serving size is for any of the other flavors because i did not order it, but I certainly don't recommend the scallop skewer simply for the price. The taste was fine but, wow. The final negative, which could just be a me thing, was that while the atmosphere is covered in anime, and there is anime playing on the giant multi-screen tv the music in the establishment didn't match. That isn't to say the music was bad, it was popular music mostly but in a place decorated to the gills in anime, it's somewhat...

If you’re looking for a dining experience that’s equal parts delicious and delightful, Kumamon Restaurant in King of Prussia is the place to go. This spot has quickly become one of my favorite local gems, and after just one visit, you’ll see why.
The Hot Pot: The hot pot at Kumamon is nothing short of incredible. We went with the spicy mala broth and the rich pork bone broth — both packed with layers of bold, comforting flavor. Every ingredient was fresh and top-quality: thinly sliced beef that practically melts in your mouth, tender lamb, juicy shrimp, and a colorful array of vegetables and tofu. Everything cooked up beautifully right at the table, and the customizable sauce bar let us create the perfect flavor combos to dip everything in. You can tell Kumamon takes pride in their ingredients and recipes — this isn’t your average hot pot. The Avocado spicy tuna sushi was also mouth watering and so were the Takoyaki and Kumamon Fries.
Anime-Themed Decor: As an anime fan, the ambiance here made me smile from ear to ear. The restaurant is filled with anime-inspired artwork, playful Kumamon bear décor, and even themed table setups. From Dragon Ball Z to My Hero Academia, every corner offers something fun to look at. It’s stylish and cozy without being over-the-top — a great place to snap photos and soak in the creative energy.
Service: The staff at Kumamon is outstanding. Friendly, fast, and super helpful — especially if you’re new to hot pot or need help navigating the menu. Our server explained the broth options, recommended ingredient pairings, and checked in often to make sure our broths were topped off and that we had everything we needed. The service felt warm and genuine, which really elevated the whole experience.
Freshness & Quality: Every item that came to the table looked and tasted incredibly fresh. The seafood was sweet and clean, the meats were beautifully marbled and thinly sliced, and the veggies were crisp and vibrant. Even the little touches — like house-made fish balls and chewy handmade noodles — were a cut above. You can taste the quality in every bite.
Atmosphere: Whether you’re out on a date night, catching up with friends, or just want something fun and different for dinner, Kumamon has the perfect vibe. The combination of bubbling hot pots, upbeat background music (with the occasional anime soundtrack!), and whimsical decor makes for a unique, immersive experience that’s just plain fun.
Final Verdict: Kumamon Restaurant is a must-visit in King of Prussia. With incredible hot pot, top-tier service, playful anime-themed decor, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, it’s more than just a meal — it’s a whole experience. If you haven’t been yet, go hungry and get ready to be impressed. I can’t wait...
Read moreWe’ve tried Kumamon at other locations before and decided to try this one as well. We came for dinner for 2 around 6PM and were seated immediately. Server was very personable and service was quick.
For our appetizers, we ordered the Takoyaki and the A5 Wagyu Roll. The Takoyaki comes with 6 balls and tasted as expected; it didn’t stand out much. The A5 Wagyu Roll, although plated beautifully, was a bit underwhelming. The inside contains Kani/Crab Stick, Avocado, and Asparagus; and the outside contains Seared Wagyu Beef, Scallion and Fish Eggs. Because the inside contents are all quite muted, the roll itself didn’t taste like much even with the Wagyu on top to add a bit of meatiness. I actually think it’s comparable to a California Roll in terms of flavor. I don’t think we would order this A5 Wagyu Roll again. There are a lot of other rolls available that I think are more worthwhile and have a stronger/more appetizing taste profile.
I ordered the Pork Katsu with Curry and Rice for my entree. I absolutely love that the katsu comes on a metal rack to prevent the katsu from getting soggy from the condensation. This was actually my first time seeing a rack used and I just thought that was so innovative. Onto the dish itself, I think the pork was a little tough to chew, perhaps overcooked. It did have a good crunch to it though. The curry was good but more on the light-side in terms of flavor. I think the rice is a little less than what should be served since the dish has so much katsu. If I were craving katsu again, I would try the chicken katsu instead of the pork in hopes that the meat wouldn’t be so tough/hard.
Pass on the bubble tea. The Thai Milk Tea tasted unlike Thai Milk Tea, although I’ll say that the bubbles were well made.
Overall, we had a decent experience but we’re...
