I visited Mad Crab on St. Charles Rock Rd. 2 times yesterday. The 1st time I ordered Cajun French Fries To-Go & then the 2nd time I went back & took advantage of their Happy Hour( From 3pm-5pm M thru F). I ordered a Catfish Basket which was $11(+ tax), but with Happy Hour being 50% off it was only 1/2 of that price. Our server was Alexis & she was very pleasant & took care of us👍. My Catfish Basket was served piping hot with Tartar Sauce & Louisiana Hot Sauce & it was excellent!!! I received 2 Catfish Filets & a basket of piping hot Cajun French Fries. The music was verygood & made me wish that I was on another cruise to the Caribbean. When we 1st arrived there were only 2 tables in the whole restaurant, but after we were there about 5 or 10 mins customers started coming in, but I don't think alot of them were aware that it was Happy Hour 50% off. I think this 2nd location is much better as far as service & food quality, everything that I have had at this location so far has always been fresh & piping hot!!! & if ur looking for some verygood Seafood Gumbo, don't sleep on Mad Crabs!!! It is honestly some of the best that I have eaten!!!, very flavorful & chock full of seafood..I will be visiting this place frequently whenever I have a craving for seafood🙂, they could give another well known seafood establishment some competition....Overall atmosphere is nice, service is great & very friendly, & food is fresh & hot with reasonable prices for seafood, what more could U ask for?? & they even have dessert....

I’ve had a lot of seafood boils but Mad Crab was the worst. I ordered Jumbo King Crab which was $65 a lb, all of the sides such as corn, sausage, potatoes were sold separately. Most places that I’ve been to will at least offer 1 corn, 2 potatoes with it. I wanted half a pound of deveined shrimp and half a pound of sausage, the lady that was working told me I had to buy 1 pound minimum. So I did, I bought 1 pound of each. The shrimp wasn’t properly cleaned. The can sodas are $2 a can. No fountain drink machine/dispenser available so good luck if you want a refill. You have to pay right after you place your order so that was a little weird to me. My brother in law ordered the blue crab and he had to send it back because it had a weird taste and smell to it. He said it was the worst blue crab he ever had. All in all, I spent $161.20 and I regret every bit of it! First experience and definitely the LAST! Will not return.

My family and I tried this place because it was VERY good a couple years ago. We went in recently and it was the total opposite. Under new management, counter order service style, gumbo was terrible and absolutely no seasoning in it, it was so bad I gagged eating it. Boil bags were WAY TO OVER PRICED the cheapest bag was $45 and that’s for one person. Then it jumps to $58 a bag. You have to add stuff priced per item just to get the real boil bag experience. Way too much garlic in the bags and the fact that you are given real scissors to crack your crabs was so ghetto that I lost my appetite. They also charge $2 a soda can instead of fountain soda. The only good thing about this place is the customer service was great overall.

I just finished having dinner here with my family. We used to go to the Mad Crab when they were back on Olive Blvd. It became one of our favorite places after a single visit. The wait staff was amazing and they made you feel part of a family. We decided to make a day trip to eat here on the 26th of July. We live a few minutes shy of 3 hours away so it’s not a short drive to eat here. The prices were what I expected, market price of seafood. However, the sides you used to get a good portion of corn and potatoes and now you have to pay 1.99 for each corn and each potato. We did the create your own and chose two whole lobsters, frozen crawfish, black mussels, and head on jumbo shrimp. They were out of whole lobster and so when asked the cashier told us they had the jumbo king crab legs and the dungoness crab. Not even mentioning the snow crab legs as an Option. We decided to go with the dungoness crab. Another member of the family got a fried shrimp basket and Cajun fries which came out far before the food I was splitting with another family member. So they were done eating before we even got our food. By the time it did arrive and we went to deshell the crab to eat, most of the meat was still frozen. They offered us a substitution or another crab. We asked about the snow crab legs and they said that was fine despite not mentioning it as an option before when they were explaining what they were out of. As we waited we ate other pieces of the meal. The potato that we got was bland despite having chosen mild spice and the triple threat a combination of their 3 seasonings. Half the crawfish were bland. The head on shrimp were overcooked and we could barely peel the shells off, being hard once we finally did get the shells off. Half of the snow crab legs were very bland while the other half was flavorful, despite being cooked alone in the same juices and seasoning as previously ordered and stated above. Needless to say I do not recommend coming here anymore. Having loved the place once we are leaving today severely disappointed and out $175.00 from the total meal cost the final price+tip, which you pay before you even...

Took my wife there for her birthday tonight. We were at this place a few years ago and it was great, tonight not so much. I don't enjoy leaving bad reviews but when I feel it's necessary so that other customers won't have to go through the same experience I believe it should be done. Way over priced for food that was mediocre at best. Catfish nuggets were tasteless, beef sausage didn't taste like beef and was discolored on parts of it. Sauce was not flavorful, well maybe just a bit of flavor. Staff was polite but passive. Really disappointed how much this place has went downhill. Given plastic cutlery and thin paper plates that soaked through. No butter sauce with the crab. Had to ask for a second crab shell cracker twice. Was told they didn't have an extra one the first time? (There were only a few customers in the store) They gave us scissors to cut the shells? No free drink refills. Not event on the water! Shrimp tasted very low quality. Corn cob was ok when we covered them with salt and pepper. If this place is going to provide low grade quality food and service then it should be priced as such. Spent around $80. Should have been a red flag when we seen a sign at the front door clearly stating something like. "No refunds of any kind" I'm very disappointed that my wife did not get the birthday dinner she deserves. I feel very undervalued and taken advantage of at this place. We will not be returning. To be honest I think we should get a refund for the meal, or at least half of it. Same for anyone that has...
