One advantage of having a restaurant in NJ is the space. The Shake Shack here is bigger than most of the NYC shake shack. They even had a small outdoor seating area, and a super cute (and very considerate) pet "parking" with water filled for them. And to complete the parking, you can buy dog treats here as well, so you can enjoy your yummy food with your pet!
One downfall of opening NYC restaurant in NJ location is that people think it is "over priced" - which might be true in NJ...
I visited this location during lunch on a weekday with couple of my colleagues. Since one of them have never been to any shake shack, he was excited to try them out, and I was excited for him! We each got a burger/sandwich, shake, and we decided to share fries (non of us were a big eater).
One thing that I like the most about Shake Shack is that each location has their own special burger, that you can NOT get anywhere else! At this location, they had a burger called Bacon Cheddar Shack, and of course I ordered this one. It looked good and it tasted even better! The patty was as juicy and flavorful as always, the buns are soft, and cheese was gooey goodness... I also got their Shake of the week, which was Cherry Streusel. It tasted like a cherry pie in a cup! it also had some bits of cherries, which was a nice touch. I really liked it
Overall, another restaurant out of NYC, with the benefit of larger space, less people, and no wait time. Read my full review of this restaurant and food on my food blog,...
Read moreSo I heard people rave about Shake Shack so I gave it a try with a friend.
I can only ask one question. Am I missing something here? Rave worthy? What do people normally eat that this is stellar?
First the burger is small, I mean small. I am not a big eater, but this could not be compared in size to a typical Fast Food entree burger by any means. Second it was a very generic fried hamburger on a very generic roll. The only really good thing was the bacon, other than that, nothing special. Just an “OK” burger.
The fries were ok and cooked well. Fries vary so much from chain to chain, but these were good. The portion size was on the small side
I got a small soda, let me tell you a small is small. Like 5” tall kiddie cup small. There was no way this was even 12 ounces. They do give free refills inside, but it’s a hassle because they have to get the drink for you.
Overall it was ok, but I would not go out of my way to go there. So why the one star review? I attached the receipt from the visit. 2 people, almost 27.00! I go from time to time to a mid grade chain steakhouse. A big burger, fries, salad and a soda to go is 11.00.
I would not care if I paid a lot for something that was truly special even if it was smaller portions, but this was not anywhere near that good I could even remotely rave about...
Read moreI usually love shake shack but I am quite fumed at what happened today. I paid $22 for my food(cheese fries, burger, and a hot dog). When I was paying with my card, the cashier began explaining how much I can tip these employees that are not waiters and hourly workers(the first option was 10% btw). When I immediately selected “no tip”, he grunted and said “oh well okay”. I looked this boy straight in the eyes and told him “when I was your age, I worked for my money, many times hourly, and never begged for more”. Learn the value of hard work. If you don’t like your job, quit or better yourself to get a better one rather than sit there and try to pity every customer that comes in. Unfortunately, shake shack is not the only place doing this and I’ll continue these 1 Star reviews for service for every establishment I get pushed to give a tip to people who don’t deserve a dime extra. To any older people reading this, stand up for what’s right in this world.
EDIT(after shake shack response): So very nice to see I can email them to assist me. And further so nice to see they’re copied and pasted response/robot. Obviously, I’m being sarcastic. This is a review. What could they possibly assist me with? Im letting the community know what my experience was. Nothing more....
