I recently stayed at the AC Hotel by Marriott in Bridgewater, NJ, and had an amazing experience from start to finish.||In the days leading up to my stay, my home suffered major damage from flash flooding, and with more severe weather on the way, I made the difficult decision to leave for safer ground. As we were leaving, the rain started pouring again, making visibility on the road almost nonexistent. It was a stressful time.||When we arrived, the hotel manager, Phil, met me and my disabled mom at the entrance and kindly helped us with our luggage. Family and friends were calling to check in on us, and during that time, Phil took the time to learn a bit about our situation. His genuine concern and kindness stood out right away.||The hotel itself was warm, modern, and very inviting — a large, beautifully decorated lobby and a location that’s hard to beat: right off the highway, next to a major mall, and close to many stores and restaurants.||Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a cozy sitting area, soft pillows, a desk, and even a luxurious robe — a welcome comfort. I had booked a room with a roll-in shower for my mom’s accessibility needs, but we were initially assigned a room with a tub instead. When I called the front desk, Phil immediately apologized and offered two solutions: either to adjust the rate or to contact the nearby Marriott property to check availability for a room that better suited our needs.||He had overheard enough of our story to understand how much we were already dealing with, and his offer felt like more than just good customer service — it felt like compassion. He clearly wanted to ease our burden, even just a little, and I will never forget that.||Phil's kindness, professionalism, and genuine care made all the difference. I sincerely appreciate his generous heart and thoughtful approach. I’ll gladly recommend the AC Hotel Bridgewater to anyone — and as long as Phil is the manager, it will always be my go-to...
Read moreI was really hopeful about my stay as the hotel looked beautiful and was very new. The rooms were polished and hotel very attractive. However, it quickly became apparent that the hotel was host to a multitude of weddings and groups of young kids that were using the hotel as their party base. We were placed in a room adjacent and across from several rooms that were engaged in a group party all night long on our first night. The room next door had about 12 young kids blasting music, screaming and partying throughout the first night. The poor sound insulation between the rooms didn't help. I called down to the front desk at 2am to complain and they came up in an attempt to quiet down the party but that worked only briefly as it resumed again in the early morning hours. The next morning we were told that the group had checked out so we stayed put in our room, however, at about 11pm the next night it was apparent from the same loud music and pot wafting through the corridor that the information provided was clearly incorrect. The hotel indicated that they had made a mistake but told us they didn't have any other rooms open for a room change. They also didn't seem particularly interested in doing anything about the party that was taking place next door. We were told that "it was a Sat night after all". After an extended argument with the desk staff, another room magically appeared and we were moved, but the night was already ruined and left us exhausted for our drive home in the morning. A modest number of points were offered upon check out as an afterthought for our inconvenience but it certainly wasn't adequate given the experience. No sign of any Covid protocols in place - masks not worn by hotel staff and almost none worn by any guests. Overall a massively disappointing experience since the rooms and property were otherwise extremely nice. Recommend bringing a quality set of earplugs or finding a better...
Read moreI'm concerned that after hearing that this is a European style hotel, nobody will ever want to visit Europe. Truth is, this hotel is as much European as a california roll is Japanese (except a lot more disappointing and overpriced). I suspect the European motto was done on purpose to hide behind all the failings and cheapness of whoever owns the hotel. Heat doesn't work? It's not a broken heating system, it's an energy efficient European style system. Sink doesn't drain and overflows? It's not clogged, it's just a European style drain (ffs, why wouldn't the Europeans like to have their water drain quickly?!). Wifi doesn't work? The Europeans don't use the internet that much (ok, that wasn't what they said, but wouldn't have surprised me). After staying here, you'll probably want to start a charity for all those poor Europeans living in such horrible miserable conditions.
But at the end of the day, broken lodging conditions have a place in the world. That's why $30/night European hostels exist and thrive. But this isn't a $30/night european hostel, it's a $300/night ''european'' hotel. So the question is, why would you stay here? A good answer would be because every other hotel and airbnb within 100 miles is booked out, your car ran out of gas, and the alternative is sleeping in the woods during hunting season. Otherwise, stay at the Marriott 5 minutes away or the Delta 15 minutes away in Basking Ridge (they both have working internet and free HBO Go; the Delta is also much cheaper and recently renovated).
Two stars because the staff was nice. I hope they manage to find positions in a hotel worth working in.
P.S. If you do stay here and are trying to map it, search for Zinburger instead of the hotel. They forget to tell you that the GPS/Google actually takes you to an empty lot 5 minutes away. Maybe that's because the Europeans don't believe in technology or keeping accurate...
