04-02-2023 - Have gone back many times since my first review. The pizza is excellent. We had a Detroit style piece as a sample and it is true. Just like what I used to get in Detroit in Gross Pointe area in the 1980s and 90s. Steve’s courtesy and passion continues and his place now serves wine and beer, and cappuccino, espresso, latte, and fine drip coffee. This is an Italian place, so the coffee is not just sitting there. You’ll get a great cup. Gelato is also very good for after a meal. Consistently better than practically any pizza I have had in the area. If you like Napolitana wood-fired pizza, with the thin, leopard pocks on the bottom of the pizza, this is for you. ORIGINAL post - The pizza is incredibly good. Steve and Wendy are extremely passionate about what they serve, how they prepare it, and keeping it simple. This is true back-street, alley-way, food artisanship in the form of Italiano or Roman style, wood fired pizza. Think differently and try it. If you are into Papa John's and even the beach pizza not far away, well then may the Lord help you get to Emma Hearth & Market, right away. In my own preference this is so much more real, so much more taste to it. If you like to do things like culture travel, experience new things, this is that something, in our area no less, to take time out, to schedule and try it.
You'll be amazed at the taste and what minimum ingredients, real home-made marinara for the sauce on top, basil, great cheeses, splash of excellent olive oil, and of course the thinner, real pizza crust (with the nice leoparding spots on the bottom from the 850 degree stone oven) can do for satisfying your appetite. I am so happy they are giving this a real go for our area. We all should support them at this infant stage.
This is what the area needs more of - that entrepreneurial spirit at the grass roots level, with a real passion for a craft, like their pizza and sausages. GO GO GO. We wish you...

Read moreI can’t say I’ve ever been more pleasantly surprised by a place than I was when I dined at Emma’s. The outside is unassuming, some light signage and and some cool looking neon signs to let you know what kind of experience you’re about to indulge yourself in.
Normally when I come to a pizza place and see multiple styles of pizza on a menu, I’m disappointed because I assume they aren’t able to fully focus on making one style great. I’m excited to say that that is not the case at Emma’s, as both the NY style and the Neapolitan style were not only true to form, but extremely well executed. Didn’t get to try the Al Tagio, but what I saw looked fantastic. I noticed the team using different ovens for different styles of pizza, which is paramount to executing them correctly.
The standout was the pepperoni NY style. For a moderate little town I couldn’t have expected the pizza I got. Big slices, excellent crisp and chew from the dough, and really high quality sauce and cheese. The sign says “char is flavor” and they really nail the balance between enough char to add flavor and not so much to take over the other flavors. Even the bottom of the pizza had beautiful spots of char without being burnt. Big fan of the cupping pepperoni they used, and they did NOT skimp on the amount. Every bite had as much pepperoni as I wanted.
I wish I had saved room for gelato or some of the other deserts that looked phenomenal, will make sure to do so next time.
If you’re reading this and considering trying Emma’s, I can’t recommend it enough. I’ve had pizzas all over the country and this has to easily be one of the best pizzas I’ve had outside a major pizza city. 10/10, will return if I ever...
