Sat at the bar for approximately 30 minutes waiting for my togo order. While waiting I observed the bartender going about his job, making drinks, clearing old glasses off the bar with his fingers inside of them. All this seemed okay until i realized he was putting fruit for the drinks in the palm of his hand and then dumping them into the drinks having not washed his hands during his constant change in tasks. This of course made me cringe as I have an extensive culinary background and I was currently drinking a drink he had made. Upon receiving my togo order he printed out my receipt and put it in an empty glass on the bar which wasnt even mine, next to the still full drink I had pushed away, then walked away despite me having money in hand to pay my bill. I then stood there for another 10+ minutes watching him work, having still not washed his hands, waiting to pay for my food. The other bartender eventually approached me and asked if something was wrong with my drink. I explained what i had seen and she apologized and immediately removed it from my bill, printed out a new receipt and put it in my hand. I paid and decided to mention my experience to the manager I saw walking around. While speaking to her she cut me off saying that that was not how they did things and thanked me for my feedback...Not quite the normal response i would think but hey who am i right?? I did not ask for my drink to be removed or my meal paid for, was simply wanting this young mans habbits to be corrected yet I felt as though the young lady at the bar treated me with more respect and understanding then the manager. Makes me wonder if they act like that in front of customers, just what are they doing in the kitchen??? I shouldnt even get into how the food was.... Lets just say that out of two entrees and an appetizer the only thing that was acceptable was that my steak was rare and I checked that before leaving! Reckon i should have checked it all. Wont be returning there as this was the second unpleasant experience at this location, though I will say that the manager on duty the first time my wife and I went handled the situation of my order being sent back 3 times for being wrong, much better than what I...
Read moreWhat a disappointment! Restaurant was empty when we arrived with a party of five. The hostess arrived promptly but proceeded to stare at the seating chart for a good four minutes. She then told us that the only table she could seat us at was adjacent to the bar and was a high top table. Not what we were interested in. When we inquired as to why we couldn't sit at any of the forty other empty tables we were told that all of those sections were closed. It was the majority of the restaurant and it was 4:30 on a Friday, two days before New Year's. Curious. We took the undesirable table. Within ten minutes all of the closed sections were full. Our waitress arrived promptly. She was very polite. Other than that I have nothing positive to say. The service was AWFUL! We wanted to start with appetizers. Every time we tried to order them she tried to get us to order dinner. We finally successfully ordered the appetizers. As soon as she took the appetizer order she returned for the dinner order. We caved in and just ordered. Another server brought the appetizers to us. We had to ask for plates, napkins and silverware. Another server brought those. Before we even had a bite of the appetizers our dinner arrived. Served by yet another server. He brought half of the meals and asked us what else we ordered. He then told us that he would try and find our meals. Gee, thanks! We asked two other servers for water. We finally got up and went to the bar and got it ourselves. Suddenly our original server reappeared. She took our plates and presented our bill. Shockingly awful service. I have gotten better service at the McDonald's drive thru. I'm well aware that Applebee's isn't fine dining but it isn't unreasonable to expect at least some semblance of service. We will...
Read moreI’d just like to preface this review by saying I understand Applebee’s is a chain restaurant, with pretty much everything coming in premade and/or frozen. I say this because I want it to be clear that I don’t come to a chain like this and expect a gourmet dining experience on any level. I set my expectations on par with what type of establishment I’m in. With all that being said, there are far better Applebee’s in the area. This was our first and last time coming to this location. Our server wasn’t rude, but also wasn’t particularly friendly. The restaurant was pretty slow, as we came in about 8:50pm on a Monday. Despite this, the demeanor of our server just made us feel like we were a burden to her. Mind you, we didn’t make any out of the ordinary requests or anything. We ordered one appetizer, two entrees, and a side salad. The salad, which was brought out by the manager on duty, was mostly browned lettuce and large chunks of lettuce cores. It was also surprising that a manager brought the salad out and didn’t even notice that there was no dressing along with it. The dressing was eventually brought out, but no amount could really hide the fact that the lettuce was browned and wilted. Our app was fine. My sandwich came out with a particularly scarce side of fries, but all in all it was alright. My husband’s pasta was pretty dry, but not terrible. The server never even asked if we needed refills, extra napkins, or anything for that matter. It was just overall an incredibly underwhelming experience, even for an Applebee’s. Next time we want some food later in the evening and decide to hit up an Applebee’s, we’ll just go to the Hudson...
