Gluten friendly menu options. But, please be weary & ensure your server & the BOH understands your dietary needs & what precisely you cannot have. There is often a language barrier in Asian restaurants & to be honest, not all Asian cultures respect & acknowledge that there are REAL dietary concerns (e.g. celiac disease) out there. A lot of the language barriers prevent the proper exchange & understanding of *what gluten is.* Note: the eel sauce, miso soup, onion soup & teriyaki sauce are NOT celiac friendly. Depending on your server & how well he/she can communicate, you can ask for certain items WITHOUT “crunchy” aka panko to make it gluten free. For example, the kani (squid salad). Miso & onion soup are NOT GF. $41.83 ($29 plus lemonade & 20% tip & that’s for one person) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ not bad for this all you can eat joint. I do like that TS offers this grilled squid, salt & pepper shrimp & green mussels option as a part of the AYCE. The quality of the sashimi isn’t quite as “there” as my experience with Kyoto, but the selections are still good. I haven’t been to Kyoto in a hot minute so I’m not sure if their price bumped up $5 too; if you’re gonna do AYCE, better bring your stretchy pants. I didn’t even get through the first round of orders. I really liked the salmon teriyaki, moist, flavorful & cooked to perfection. The onion soup was very salty. The shrimp tempura with the yum yum sauce was perfect 👍🏼 Normally I like to include my server’s name in my reviews, but I didn’t catch hers. My server was as prompt as she could be with all the tables she had, cliché, but like most Asian servers, her personality lacked. I said thank you with every food delivery she made & every refill of my lemonade she made & she never winced once. Sure, she had a mask on, but facial expressions aren’t the only way to express personality. If you’d like great service, visit Phil at the Kyoto in Eagan. Best service I have ever had. He gets to know you & your order & even addresses me by name (cause I was such a regular when I lived there).

Delicious food. Served quickly. Excellent quality. Made-to-order. Reasonably priced. Any of these attributes would be happily embraced by most restaurants. Tokyo Sushi can claim all of them. This is not a buffet. Each item is carefully prepared individually. My wife and I eat at Tokyo Sushi in Maplewood quite often, but we thought we would try out its relatively new sister restaurant. The management has done an excellent job with the new outpost, and it is every bit as good as the first. Despite the fact that it is an all you can eat restaurant, the quality on offer is first rate. The sushi is straightforward [I typically order mackerel, salmon, and tuna, and my wife has eel and shrimp, as we did today], but carefully prepared from high quality ingredients. The teriyaki salmon at Brooklyn Park is superb, and ties its sister for being the best teriyaki I have ever had. I dream about this salmon, deliciously spiced and grilled to perfection. We usually have a plate [or two or three]. The vegetables are very fresh. Especially tasty are the mushrooms, broccoli and eggplant. The gyoza is as good as I have had anywhere in my travels, and instantly argues for my setting aside any diet plans that I might have. We always order the edamame. It’s delicious, and quite healthy. I try mightily to reserve enough space to force feed myself some ice cream. My favorites are red bean, green tea, vanilla, mango and strawberry [oops...I think that might be all of them]. The service is attentive and friendly. We were pleased indeed with our outing to Tokyo Sushi in Brooklyn Park. If I lived any closer I would soon be an episode on My 600 Pound Life.

Closer to my office, this is one of my favorite stomping grounds. Get in here for a week day ‘All you can eat’ lunch and get the most out of the $17 you pay for an overall sumptuous meal. I’m no expert of Sushi to comment how it should be made and if they meet the standard but this place sets the Gold standard when it comes to preparing the Sushi and getting them to your table as you work through filling your tummy with more of it. Now if you are following me as an individual on Google you would know that I’m a vegetarian and hence my reviews are based on what vegetarian items I tried out at a place. At Tokyo Sushi for the starters, try the one of a kind seaweed salad that you don’t get at most of the other restaurants. They have an interesting categorization of the menus in terms of tempuras, sushi, maki, temaki, teriyaki etc. and you can keep ordering those until you feel filled or rather overfilled. They have a strict No food wastage and this puts a conscious effort on your mind not to over order and pay extra for it. If you are here, do try the mango avocado and cucumber avocado sushi rolls as they would taste out of the world. Nice hosts, wonderful food and a great atmosphere, what else could you ask for?

ATTN OWNER/MANAGEMENT. Management (Asian Lady) you know exactly who I am. I’ve been a long time customer. On an annual basis we spend over $3k at your restaurant. Our AOV per ticket is around $120. So you understand the consistency of our visits through an annual basis.

There’s 2 Asian women servers. Because we come constantly, every time we visit they’re able to already bring out the stuff we usually order. Which we really appreciate for the good customer service and hospitality.

Recently we went in on Valentine’s Day around 8pm. After the first round of “Salmon Sushi” staff notified us that salmon sushi is unavailable. Keep in mind it’s all you can eat, and we didn’t get to order as much as we typically would like because they ran out. But we were understanding towards the restaurant in regards to this matter.

Today on February 21st, 2025. I mistakenly ordered 2 orders of (out of control rolls) when I meant to order the rock n roll sushi. And also I ordered 1 order of tofu and staff put the order in as 2 by mistake. We always wanted to try the cucumber roll but unfortunately anything you’d like to try comes in a standard 6-8 rolls which is too much for just wanting to try.

Our male server was a new server who we’ve never experienced service from. He was not attentive with our drinks. Whenever he came back to ask if we needed anything else he never paid attention to the drinks. Customer service is nowhere near the caliber of the 2 Asian female servers.

Then our male server came and questioned if we were going to finish our food that I mistakenly ordered. And I answered that we were done. Then he wanted to escalate this to his manager (Asian lady). The manager approached us and said because of food waste she has to charge us extra. And because we were “frequent” customers they’ll “only” charge ($10). And that’s very upsetting. There’s no warning, no chance, no compassion. Because we were frequent customers she will only charge us $10. But when it comes to one of their main options such as salmon unavailable we don’t get any discounts. That’s unfair to the customer. We’re expected to be understanding to the restaurant when they’re out of salmon even though it’s all you can eat. But management has no compassion and no care for clients that constantly go there.

We’re not concern for the $10. It’s more of the manager’s attitude towards this situation. Is charging a customer $10 going to make a difference for a small amount of food waste? The verbiage that you’ve used sounds very offensive. Because we’re frequent customers you will “only charge us $10” ……..

Also sometimes it’s hard to eat every single sushi. Especially when you want to try a new one but a sushi roll comes in 6-8 which is too much if it doesn’t taste good.

Now this message is for the owner.

Why do you have 3 locations that have different quality food? I’ve visited all 3 of your locations because I like your location in Brooklyn park. The other location’s beverages have a weird taste in it. And it’s because the machine isn’t properly cleaned. You can taste some very weird flavors that make you sick to your stomach. Even the sauces have a slight variant change. Please conduct quality control on your other restaurants. We can tell the difference in quality and taste because of the numerous amount of times we go to the Brooklyn park location. Also the staff energy and professionalism is not up to par. I’m not expecting the highest standard of customers service but atleast expect decency.

EDIT: When you retracted our plates you chose the dishes that had the sushi that we mistakenly ordered and didn’t dispose of the dishes. Are those dishes for redistribution to other customers to prevent waste?

We got charged $10 for food waste. And TAXED on the $10. We are not able to take the food that we paid for that was wasted. Is that ethical ?

Overall, good. If you like Kyoto, you'll feel at home here.

Price - good (for midwest sushi). I usually go with a group of at least four to do all you can eat, and we end up ordering our money's worth of everything and sharing. The price is the same as Kyoto Sushi.

Food quality - excellent. I only go to AYCE sushi places on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday for dinner. My mid-week explorations at other establishments have left me feeling as though I was eating something from a few days ago. I've only been to Tokyo Sushi on a Sunday for dinner, and the food quality was wonderful. The red tuna and salmon sashimi were both more than excellent and came in a wonderful presentation, and the rolls were crafted with care. Selection is great, and the full menu with pricing for non-AYCE is available on their website.

Atmosphere - unknown. I've only been once so far and it was completely dead from 6pm to around 8pm on Sunday. The photos of the restaurant being empty are my submitted photos, for reference. I suspect it would get relatively cramped in there, as the seating is rather tight. We sat at a booth, all of which (except for the corner) can only accommodate six adults. The booth seats were notably uncomfortable for sitting and talking, and the spacing between the seat back and the table itself was nice and close (read: fat American style seating is NOT featured here). There are a small handful of booth+chair style seats that count up to eight or so people, and a large party room in the back that could accommodate parties of 12 or more easily.

Accessibility - good. It's just off Zane and 610, next to Jet's Pizza. Very easy to get to.

Staff - wonderful. Again it was dead there when I went so YMMV, but our waitress was attentive and very friendly. The second order of our sashimi was arranged in a rose pattern which is a whole lot more than what I would expect for an AYCE menu. I definitely wouldn't expect that when it's busier, but kudos to them for the extra mile. It was appreciated by our table. One of the preparation areas is near the front door, and the staff there greeted as we came in and wished us a good evening as we left.

It's wonderful that we have another AYCE sushi place in my neck of the woods. My friends and I have been going to Kyoto for a little over a year now and the change in scenery (and menu selection, albeit minor) is great. This will definitely be one of our...
