Overall it's what you might expect for the area. Some of the food is good, and some of it is not good at all, but none of it is great.
I ordered the Ruben crunch and a side of wild mushroom soup. I love mushrooms and mushroom soup so how could I go wrong?
The sandwich was quite small, served with the bowl of soup on the plate with chips (Ruffles in a bag) a pickle and some dipping sauce. The soup was not cold, but I wouldn't call it warm. It felt about room temperature. The taste was very lacking, tasting like a poorly seasoned Thanksgiving gravy. The mushroom chunks were the only good part but I couldn't get myself to eat more than a few bites without feeling like I was forcing myself to eat something.
The sandwich had roast beef, mustard and horse radish sauce. The radish sauce was not spread evenly, and had far too much. The dip sauce was like a salt bath. The taste was similar to talkng a salt chunk and dipping it into a jar of horse radish sauce. Bad luck I guess. Best thing on the plate was the sealed bag of chips. And why was it called the Ruben crunch? There was no crunch, unless they are talking about the bag of chips.. oh and don't forget the fifty cents upcharge on 6 out of 7 of their sandwiches.
Others at the table had the stuffed avocado and Cobb salad that were pretty decent, but if something on your menu is that bad, it needs to be taken off.
Overall the place was kind of cute, appealing to the Brooksville spirit, but for almost 50 bucks for lunch at that poor of quality, I would highly recommend skipping the food. I would recommend a nice slice of cake and a good cup of coffee while enjoying their gift...

I had the stuffed avocado with tuna salad and pasta salad and I got to say I'm hooked, such great flavor, smooth, clean, the tuna salad was truly on point, one of the best I've ever had same goes for the pasta salad, such balanced flavors and all because it tastes homemade and fresh, also we got the Carolina Chicken Sandwich and it was delicious, it comes on raisin bread and believe me it sounds different but it works and finally for dessert we had banana cream pie, they put actual slices of banana in the pie, the cream is delicious, smooth, silky and creamy. Definitely we will come back when we are in the area, I can't wait to have more of that stuffed avocado. We went there again to dine in this time and I am happy to report that it is amazing service paired with amazing food that feels like came straight from your grandma's kitchen. We had the ham and cheese quiche and the amazing stuffed avocado with tuna salad which in my opinion is one of the best dishes I've had. We also indulged with some of the desserts, the cookies were on point, rich but not crazy sweet, right on the money; the hummingbird cake is straight up the best I've had so far, made with banana cake with that awesome delicious filling and the apple crumble pie was to die for, warm and delicious, pairs well...
Read moreThis makes me sad to leave this review because we loved this place years ago. We went for lunch today. Our bill, 2 adults, 2 kids with 2 desserts came to $68. Absolutely worth every penny of the food was good but omg it was awful. My husband's Ruben had 2 slices of corned beef on it, the most tasteless potatoe salad and their sweet mustard overpowered the whole thing. The kids meal came with the nastiest little pre-packaged scooby snacks. My roast beef sandwich was the size of a tennis ball. Tiny little sandwich, 1 slice of roast beef, only tasting the sweet mustard. Fir dessert I got a slice of humming bird cake. She brought the cake over, it litteraly looked like throw up. Like it was mushed, the taste was meh. Why make something from scratch (supposedly) then top it with canned whip cream??? If the food was good, the price would be justified but this was something my kids could have made better when they were toddlers. The icing on the cake was when the lady asked him much tip we wanted to leave, my husband said $8. The woman said, that's not 20%, was there something wrong with your service? My husband said it was ok, she brought us food and drinks, no refills, we had to wait a really long time....why should we leave $13?? Im always about tipping good but why should you leave 20% for someone who visited the table 3 times??? 1 to take our order, bring us drinks (somebody else brought the food) and then to bring us the bill???? Anyway it was the nerve of the woman to question what we chose to leave. Im sad sad that our once favorite lunch spot is...
