This is one of those divey delis. I've been here a handful of times, it's really a hit or miss. Service is decent, nothing overly welcoming or special.
Most recent visit was a miss for food though. Boyfriend ordered biscuits and gravy, I didn't think you could mess those up and I guess they weren't but they weren't good either. They tasted bland and like what I imagine paste would taste like. Both of us work in the service industry so he grinned and bared it but for $10 just no. $5 maybe. Please taste the food you are cooking and sending out. Flavor is a huge factor to get return visits. I don't know how he ate as much as he did, oh yeah he paid $10- but I was hesitant to try a bite and I'm sad that I did. He even added salt and pepper and it still did nothing. We laughed about it but I felt bad that his meal was so awful.
On a previous visit I stuck to a bfast sammie. I asked if the egg could be a little runny and it arrived over cooked, crispy bits on the white and greasy as heck so I would steer away from the add egg option. When I've had the same sammie without egg it's been a great and simple grab and go breakfast.

Read moreWe're in town from Michigan for a cross country race and were looking for a lunch spot with soup and sandwiches. We found a gem! The food was really good, especially the sandwiches! The kids had a blast playing with the bobble heads and Rock Em Sock Em Robots!
We got to talking to the owner, Brian, about his shop and he let us know he makes fresh donuts Saturday mornings (in addition to their regular pastries), so of course, I had to try it out. Got coffee and donuts/pastries to go for the whole family - sprinkle donuts, apple fritters, cinnamon rolls, etc. Soooo goooood!! Brian recommended the Bienenstich (aka Bee Sting Coffee Cake) to me and it is definitely a must try! My 10 year old said it's the best thing she ever ate. Haha
Can't wait for our trip back here for the cross country race next year so I can eat all the...
Read moreWhat a cute place!! I went in there after a post on Milwaukee Foodie and I wasn't disappointed. We picked up several things (photos included) and went home to try them. Everything was amazing. Being from Germany myself it's very hard to find Bienenstich. Kurt's is amazing! It's not too sweet and the filling is custard based. The almond horns were amazing! They have just the right amount of almonds and chocolate. The store also has an eating area inside and out. The atmosphere was very welcoming and Kurt himself greeted us at the door. The prices are very reasonable and honestly, he could absolutely charge more and he'd probably get it. They have soups and sandwiches and salads, including German potato. I'll definitely be going back and recommending this place to...
