I don’t normally write reviews unless my experience is super bad or super great, and let me say this place blew me away. Our server Virginia was super accommodating & so nice! She was so knowledgeable about the menu, gave us great recommendations & made sure our drinks were never empty. From the service to the drinks to the ambience and of course the star of the show, the food! I went with a group of friends and we got a little bit of everything and not one dish disappointed. My top dishes were the cazuela asado de puerco & queso fundido with chicharon! Their drinks were so amazing! Their paloma is probably the best one I’ve ever had. They make their palomas with fresh grapefruit juice & makes all the difference. We had the pistachio pie for dessert & it really was the cherry on top of everything! I love their sister restaurant Chimolli but will definitely be coming here more often; I love the more casual feel to this place. Would...
Read moreI wanted to try out something different for my bday celebration so I decided to give this place a try. The place looked really nice. We ordered Parrilladas, Queso fundido, Chicharrones, and Guacamole. Food was ok, not impressed. Salsas are good 10/10 and waiter was nice. But when I wanted to bring my cake I was charged $15 without prior notice and when my husband wanted me to surprise me with Mariachi music they were not let in. The poor guys felt discriminated. We had to go outside to enjoy the songs. I know downtown wants to be more top notch but that is not how customers are treated and at the end of the day we also consumed more than $400 dlls and deserve the same treatment than others. It is a good place to have a drink and appetizer like a...
Read moreOrdered a to go order.. a milanesa plate and a vegetarian nopal salad.. for the good, the salad was well received by the vegetarian eater.. as far as the milanesa, it was lacking flavor and the breading was soggy and didn't stick to the meat. Was surprised it didn't come with tortillas, salsa, and small salad as I usually see when I order this plate in other parts of brownsville. It was literally just a soggy chicken fried steak with french fries, half a lime and a small side of ketchup. Just a suggestion, but for the milanesa, learn what velveting is and try doing a spiced flour coating, then dip in egg, and THEN coat in bread crumbs. It will create a much better texture as opposed to just taking a hard piece of meat and covering it...
