ALERT! Be extra careful coming to the Main Event in Brownsville. Check your receipts (or your bank account!! ) while charging for their food. YOU GET OVER, OVER, OVER, OVER CHARGED I went with Marisol a few hours ago and after eating I charged a girl, who served us, with the portable machine they use. They verbally tell you the amount to pay and when you insert your card, the screen shows you the amount to be paid and shows you different tip percentage options to select if you like to tip. Within these set options, there is one that says custom tip and you can put the amount you like. My payment was 43 dollars and some pennies, so I decided to give a 10% ($4.30) tip on the custom option. Note that the total to be paid out was going to be 47 dollars and pennies. The girl told me her machine was failing and she would go for another one. I'm back with another machine and this time I didn't pass the machine to put the custom tip of $4.30. I got a little weird but I thought maybe she would put the $4.30 in the machine for me since she knew that was how much I wanted to give her the first time. I charge myself and I wonder why I wanted to receive my receipt; I told him that by cell phone (rarely I ask for receipts but because of the above, I asked for it). Next, I never got the receipt to my cell phone. Gave me bad thorn and check bank account charged me $52 and pennies. He commented to the girl who served us that I thought I had seen that the total would be 47 and fair the first time I try to pay, tip included, and I realized that I was charged 52 and fair; quickly told me what happened was that taxes were not yet included. This just made me even more weird. I've never been to a restaurant where they tell me the total amount to pay without taxes included. Leaving the restaurant area I asked another food person if it was typical of them to charge you a certain amount and then add the taxes. I confirm what I suspected. I can explain myself no. The total amount to pay, already includes taxes, and it's what you get charged more for the tip you want to give. I explained what happened, I spoke to a manager, and the manager was able to confirm that the girl selected the second time, with the new machine, the option of 20% tip, without asking, without telling me anything, and was awarded $8.81 tip on a meal of 4 3 dollars and pennies, When my intention was to give 10% or $4.30. I must mention that they behaved well, not excellent, as they gave me a free hour of bowling (valued at 40 dollars) for a future occasion, for which I would only have to pay for the shoes. They didn't give me back those 4 dollars and fair; they took the girl. I was fined $8.81. In retrospect, the last time I went, they did the same to us with the machine, but when I went with a couple of friends, and between the talk, I missed the plane and I don't know if something similar happened. Be careful! It wasn't the extra amount allocated that was stolen from me that bothers me. I'm upset that the girl tried to see my face two times, first by giving herself 20% and then by not giving me any receipt and lie to me and tell me that the tax was not added to those 47...
Read moreWe took our son and his friend that was visiting brownsville during spring break and it was our first time ever here. When we walked in, there wasn’t anyone to direct us where to go or what to do. We just followed another family that walked in right after we did to this kiosk where we got two game cards. We then saw someone that worked here and asked where we go get food and they pointed to where we needed to go.
We couldn’t ask for help when we first walked in because the employees are too hard to recognize since they all wear different colored shirts and they dress so sloppy and unprofessionally. Some even had their own personal sweat jackets on. Which camouflaged them even more.
We got seated and our server took a while to come take our drink order. By the time she came to get our drink order we were ready to place our order and she seemed disappointed we were ready to order. Like she had something else to do.
We waited close to 30 minutes for our food to get to our table and in the meantime, we had finished our drinks and not once did our server check on us. We asked someone else for help to get our drinks refilled and that’s when our server came to see what we needed. And when our food finally came out, we needed silverware.
For the amount of money spent there, the service is lacking. The employees seem to need to be re-trained. And like I mentioned before, they don’t look professional. They look messy. Shirts untucked, black jeans and blue jeans (not consistent with the color. And I noticed one with multicolored, disheveled hair.
I will never be going back to this place. It’s over priced as it is and the service...
Read moreWe've only ever come for the arcade and we love taking advantage of the all you can play deals on Mondays, but as we were celebrating my sons birthday and it was a school night, we wanted to go somewhere where we can eat and quickly have a bit of fun. I was honestly skeptical of the restaurant, based on other arcade/food places having mediocre food, but their restaurant was surprisingly good and reasonably priced!
We tried their chicken nachos and they were deliciously rich and filling. The hamburger, can't really go wrong with that, it was a good size and the fries were absolutely delicious! The chicken caesar flatbread sandwich was such a treat! A sandwich plus a salad in one, they didn't skip a beat on the flavor for this combination! Even the chicken tenders were delectable and tasty, which I got at a steal for their dine and play promo combos they offer.
But we couldn't end the birthday dinner without dessert, so we went all in and ordered the big super fun sundae, and I'm telling you, it was massive! Loads of ice cream, cookies, brownie, candies. Between 6 of us, we still couldn't finish it, reader be warned. But it was so worth the experience. It did take a while to make and bring out to us, so prepare for a wait.
The arcade portion of this establishment has never let us down. Plentiful games, I have yet to encounter a broken machine, or one that eats our money, and they even have miniature golf, which my son played for the first time ever here as well. Overall, our families favorite place to play, and possibly even grab a...
