Daddy Cate's Coffees — Restaurant in Brunswick

The atmosphere here is comfortable and welcoming. The seating inside is minimal, but there is outdoor seating available also. Our barista was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu, and recommended a couple items to my husband and I while we were here!

I ordered the iced Honey Badger with almond milk which is a latte with honey, vanilla, and cinnamon. The iced version comes with crushed ice instead of cubed, which I wasn't sure if I liked because my first sip tasted a little watered down. However, I realized I needed to mix the drink up a little and then I was able to taste all the flavors, which were delicious! I liked that the honey and cinnamon were subtle but complimented the vanilla very nicely, and that all these flavors didn't dull or drown out the flavor of the coffee used in the latte, which was also very good! Overall, the drink was very refreshing and really good!

My husband ordered the hot S'mores Latte which came highly recommended by our barista. He described it more like a mocha. His review in his words: The toasted marshmallow flavor is a nice touch- it's subtle but adds a nice variety to a classic drink. The espresso added nicely to the drink, with good flavor and a consistent feel throughout the drink.

We also ordered the bacon and egg bagel (on a regular bagel) & the bacon, egg, cheese croissant which were yummy and filling! There was nothing extraordinarily unique about the sandwiches I don't think (meaning you get exactly what you expect), which I think is a good thing! There are multiple options for types of bagels though which is nice!

Our barista also recommended the chocolate espresso muffin which was so delicious. The muffin is very large sized, very moist, very, very sweet, and dense. I would recommend sharing it with a friend or eating half immediately and saving the rest for later- just because it tastes more like a dessert, which I loved!

Overall we had a lovely experience and would definitely recommend this...

Didn't get a chance to try the fare at Daddy Cate's because I didn't trust it to be a safe establishment during a global pandemic (with cases spiking, no less!) When I walked in to this tiny cafe to order food to go, there were two tables occupied -- one with two obvious employees and the other with two others (patrons?) -- none wearing masks or socially distanced. The tables were as close to each other as if it were a non-pandemic time. I asked the employee who greeted me whether the staff were vaccinated and she said that she wasn't and looked over at the other people in the cafe, who all looked at me like I had grown a second head as they shook theirs. I said, "And you're all not masking in public either?" She shook her head and shrugged, like, "What's the big deal?" I thanked her and said in that case I'd be going somewhere else. I was very polite, but could feel the stares and disapproval as I left. Listen, folks, the risk is just too great. The CDC (as of today) recommends even vaccinated folks again mask up when in public. And the unvaccinated should have always been masked. We need to be looking out for each other right now. I'd heard great things about this cafe and was planning on ordering coffees and lunch for my family to eat outside, but unfortunately we had to go to a large chain establishment where masks are mandated and I felt safer about it overall. Hope to be back in the area when this is all over and to be able to order food from Daddy Cate's then. Even more hope that everyone associated with the cafe is somehow able to avoid getting sick...

I have to honestly say… This was the ABSOLUTE WORSE service that I have ever in my entire life have had!!!! Here’s why… I arrived at Daddy cates a little earlier then what I thought I should so I went in and sat down on the couches that they have… I sat there for about 15 minutes.. NO ONE said anything to me at all!! Not a hey how are you? How can I help you mam? May we get something for you? Etc… so I left!! Being that I arranged a very important meeting with someone…I had no choice but to come back a second time the same day ,and it was only about thirty minutes in between.. Came in again and once again NO ONE!! Even acknowledged my presence!!! Not only that… the person I had a meeting with walked and they greeted him with ABSOLUTELY NO HESITATION!!!! If it weren’t for the very important meeting I had I would have NEVER came back!!...
