Driving down Maine street on our way out of Brunswick ME we happen to spot Frosty’s Donut Shop out of the corner of our eye. Knowing you should never pass up the chance to enjoy a donut from some place “new-to-you”, we immediately rerouted and headed back to give them a try.
We knew something was up when we saw the seating area was full and there were about 7-8 people in line. The line moved quickly though and before we knew it, we were placing our order. They were out of cinnamon rolls which bummed me out but there were many other options so it was no big deal.
There were four of us and we purchased a twisted glazed roll covered in cinnamon sugar (suggested by the cashier, who also happened to be the owner), a maple cake (my favorite), a pumpkin spice, a chocolate coconut, a frosted chocolate, a Bavarian cream, and a glazed donut.
We are from Springfield MO and have a donut shop there called St. George’s, that has been serving up the best donuts ever, since 1971. Today we discovered an equally good donut shop. All i can say is Wow, those were some of the best donuts we’ve ever eaten.
Frosty’s cake donuts were super moist and the different icings/toppings were delicious. The yeast donuts were light and fresh. We scarfed down every last crumb and could have eaten more but they were running out of donuts. Just as soon as we had placed our order, people started pouring in and the line swelled to about 15 people. It never went down from that point on. Every time someone left another person would come get in line. They are that good.
We were so impressed we even bought souvenir t-shirts. All four of us! We give Frosty’s a five star review. If you are visiting Brunswick ME make sure you get by Frosty’s...
Read moreI would like to give Frosty's a better review for being a local traditional donut shop but something needs to be done about the management. I look on google first and see that they are open until 4pm. I stop by at 10:30am and see a sign posted on the door stating that, "Our donuts are so delicious we sold out early! See you tomorrow."
No, you will not see me tomorrow. I drove forty minutes out of my way to go there and yes, I understand I should have called, but claiming that the reason you're closing six hours early on a Friday because your donuts are "so good" is terrible management. It leads me to think either someone wanted to have the day off, or management is trying to hide that they maybe failed to order the correct amount of product. Regardless, any other sign on the door would be more appropriate than the one your customers viewed today. This is maybe one time is would advise someone to lie rather than post up a sign like that.
I'm not saying I'll never go back but just consider the message you're portraying to your customers in the future. Right after I turn to walk away, an elderly lady walking with a cane over an icy sidewalk is met with the same disappointment as she heads up the steps to see the sign on the door. I guarantee she and I are two of a hundred people today who are walking away disappointed that Frosty's decided to take a day off for an...
Read moreGot charged 20+ dollars for a frozen drink (priced at 5.50 on the menu) and two donuts. Along with that, children were speaking really loudly and being rowdy, even while in (the very long) line with their parents. I understand that its a family friendly establishment, but parents did nothing to control their hyper children. I've been to Frostys about 5-10 times and this is the first time the bill was that high. I did not argue the price as I did not want to cause problems during a busy time. In the past, their employees have forgotten my drink at least twice and I had to wait 15 minutes or so to get their attention and ask about it, all while others around me received their drinks in a timely manner.
I would say that being so busy consistently has made their customer service a bit lackluster and lead to mistakes / forgetfulness. I feel bad for the people that drive a long way only for them to be sold out of donuts and closed early for the day.
Overall, I won't...
