Burgers are everywhere. With so many fast food restaurants selling burgers, most of the American population is within minutes of a dining establishment that sells burgers. They are the all- American food and another thing I like about burgers is that they are one of the few foods that everyone in my family can agree to eat when we dine out. These facts were enough to convince me to try Carter’s Burger in Bryan, Texas.
Carter’s Burger ha an ordinary interior with more seating than expected. You walk in, go to the front counter, order and pay for your food, then select a table and wait for one of the staff to bring your food to you. The total time from order to serving isn’t long at all and the iced tea is self- serve. There is no booze served here, but that is okay- we all need a break every now and then.
For food, Carter’s Burger specializes in burgers, but they also sell other assorted sandwiches, dinners, sides, etc. I recommend going for a burger, as they are juicy and delicious without being over the top. The toppings are kept to a simple selection and they are just right. You can order different sides, but I recommend the sweet potato fries. They are better than the regular fries and really add to the meal. And the prices are really low- about the same as that of a fast food restaurant but much, much better.
I like most any type of food, but burgers are so commonplace that I end up selecting them for my meal more than any other food option. Fast food is good for the quick service, but Carter’s Burger is much tastier and it is difficult to beat the price. It is easily worth going out of your way to dine here and it’s close to College Station. Make the effort to try Carter’s Burger- you won’t be...
Read moreWhenever I drove by, wanted to try them, especially during COVID when independent places are suffering the most. Last week, when a neighbor and I were driving by yet again, said, we've gotta eat here my next day off; ok said neighbor. And now we're inside, impressed by the variety of hamburger choices as well as other options such as catfish sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, chicken fingers basket, Blue Bell hand dipped ice cream and sundaes, really some great varieties. I selected the jalapeno cream cheese burger and neighbor selected hickory sauce & bacon burger. Oh, no mistake, these were both delicious. I'm not a fan of hamburgers, lack of flavor, dry buns encompassing meat and toppings. But this could NOT be said of these. The meat was seasoned, the mix of pickles, onions, slop (whatever burger style ya selected) tomatoes, lettuce made it perfect from first bite to last morsel. Amen, this place has won me over and I'm not easily won over with hamburger places. Can't wait until next week, wanna try another burger. Oh, BTW, the seasoned fries,...
Read moreSo, getting my triple burger and then biting into it, a wave of nostalgia hit me. "Wow, this is just like the cafeteria in my high school feeding me what could barely be considered meat!" The burgers were hot enough to melt iron, which I think was intentional so you didn't taste what you were eating. But once you bit in, the most bland, terrible burgers you would ever pay money for hits your taste buds.
The fries were mediocre. I've had better, I've had worse.
The lettuce tasted sour (?) which I don't know how that happens.
The drinks had a very strange taste to them. I think they need to clean out their ice machine. I had water and my wife had sprite. They bot had the same, strange taste to them. Ice machines get nasty if you don't clean them out often. Either that or they were getting city water for their drinks.
I was going to say "well it's at least better than Whataburger" but as time went on it just tasted worse and worse. I'd put it on par with McDonalds. Maybe slightly below.
Staff was...
