Don Chente Mexican & Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Bryan

SO and I were looking for a place to have a late supper and did not want to go to one of the 'big' places where we knew a wait time was required but thankfully we remembered seeing this little place off Briarcrest do we decided to give it a try. Does not look like much from the outside but once you come in, you'll see the mini-bar area as well as the sit down area in a small but comfortable space. You get to choose where to sit and the waitress promptly brings out chips and salsa and menus. Chips come with a warm red sauce. Interestingly enough, the salsa has a healthy dose of oregano, not MY favorite taste for salsas to be honest but my wife was pleased with it. We both ordered the quesabirrias and a couple of beers. The kitchen was busy and happy-sounding (one of the cooks was singing) but it did not take too long to get our order out. The quesabirrias were delicious and overwhelming in size. If you eat small portions, one plate can feed two. They bring out two more salsas,a green one and a red one. Desde que llegamos el servicio comenzo malisimo. Nos sentamos a esperar que nos atendieran y ninguna de las 3 meseras paso a atendernos. Una de las meseras, me observaba varias veces pero no hizo ni el intento de atendernos, viendo que hasta la carriola de mi hijo estaba en una zona de paso de personas, ella seguia atendiento a otra gente y pasandonos por el lado como si no importaramos como clientes. Al punto que llego mas gente, las sentaron, las atendieron y ya se puede decir que estaban comiendo y nosotroa aun esperando. Mi esposa tuvo que juscar los menus y decirle a uno de los encargados que llevabamos rato esperando que kos atendieran y que atemdieron gente que llego despues que nosotros primero. Ordené una soda lo cual me indica la mesera que ya no tenian. Termine pidiendo agua. Ordenamos un aperitivo Don Chente, un Taco Salad y una parrillada Mar y Tierra. Le pedimos a la mesera que nos trajera el aperitivo primero. Cuando ella fue a entregar la orden a la cocina, observe a uno de los encargados al parecer notificandole a la mesera que intentara sacar la comida rapido por la molestia de la espera. Cuando regrese del baño nos habian traido todo junto en vez del aperitivo primero. Del aperitivo los cheesestick y las mini flautas estaban frias. Las quesadillas parecia que calentaron la tortilla y le echaron el queso asi frio sin derretir ni nada. De todo el aperitivo lo unico que realmente valio la pena comer con gusto fueron los camarones envueltos en bacon. Del Taco Salad, la tortilla estaba super grasosa y se rompia de nada. En fin no se podia comer. De la parrillada, primero de nada ordené tortillas de harina lo cual me trajeron de maiz 😡. La parrillada tenia fajita de pollo, fajita de carne y camarones. Los camarones no tenian sabor. No los sazonaron. Las fajitas de carne estaban duras. Casi dificil para comer. La mesera, un poco desaparecida no estuvo del todo pendiente a la mesa. Cuando me percaté, se encontraba dentro de la cocina, no se si fregando o haciendo quien sabe que. Y para colmo sus compañeras como si nada. Uno de los supervisores, que ya sabia nuestra molestia desde el inicio ni rastros de el. Kung Fu Panda que estaba frente de nosotros no se movio de la silla para nada. Solo nos trajo el ticket pero nunca hizo el intento de verificar si todo estaba bien. Cuando me pare frente al counter para pagar tuve que esperar un buen rato a lo que la mesera y Kung Fu Panda hablaban sobre una situacion relacionada con el trabajo y las propinas, lo cual senti como una falta total de respeto ya que me encontraba frente de ellos. The food was terrible, insipid, and honestly a slap in the face to the entire Latino community. The tortillas were flavorless, you could go 5 seconds down the road to HEB and get better any day of the week. The meat in the tacos was abundant, and completely flavorless. We tried asada and al pastor and both left us wishing we hadn't come. The beans and rice were so boring that even the disgusting yellow cheese/tomato/lettuce combo on the side tasted better. The only redeeming part about our experience were the waitresses, because they were very sweet and attentive.

But on top of all this, but the food was out eerily fast, which leads me to the conclusion that they just have these plates ready and are being shoved into the microwave and no effort is placed in their part to make any semblance of good food.
