This was absolutely the worst food I have ever had in my life. Hummus was served in styrofoam cup and all food was packaged and frozen. Do not go here.
Okay let me give a more comprehensive review of this place. I came here with a friend looking for something different. I was served hummus and pita and then myself and my friend ordered a kebab. The pita was served cold and the hummus tasted thawed and was served in a styrofoam cup. When I was served the kebab, the meat was absolutely HORRIBLE; under cooked, poorly seasoned, and chewy. It tasted as if I was eating a new rubber band dipped in left out ranch dressing. I left money to cover the appetizer and drinks, which we consumed, but tried to refuse to pay for the entree. The owner of this establishment chased me out to the parking lot saying that he will call the police for skipping the bill and was shaking he was so unstable and furious. I paid out of fear this guy was going to lose his mind and assault me. I do believe, however, that the customer has the right to refuse to pay for under cooked food that tastes terrible.
This restaurant is unclean, and the ownership is atrocious and this isn't taking into consideration the lack of aesthetics. The food was so poor (yes, the food that I tried to refuse to pay but ultimately did pay because because I didn't want this guy assault me) that I was sick for the next couple of days. I truly don't understand the positive reviews on here. This place gave me the worst dining experience I...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to try Zand’s on our fourth date back in 2018. We loved the spicy falafel wraps so much that we became fairly regular customers - ordering the same thing every time because it is just that good! We purchase it for when we want to change up our meals and eat something we know will be packed with flavor or when we go on picnics. I would give the spicy falafel wraps 10 stars if I could and the staff 20 stars! They are the sweetest people and always know when it’s us ordering. It brightens our day when we come to pick up our order and the owner is smiling back at us saying “I knew it was you guys!” They’re so kind, in fact, that my husband and I often say if we would have had a formal wedding with guests, we would have invited them! Sadly, his job is relocating us to Louisiana soon and we’re not looking forward to leaving Zand’s behind. We may need to visit family in the Houston area fairly often and make a quick side trip into town for some falafel wraps! 😊 Overall, amazing food and I adore the staff. Would most definitely recommend!
We will miss you sorely!
Update: We made a trip back and even brought my parents along for the ride from Houston just to try Zand’s! They absolutely loved the spicy falafel wraps as well so hopefully we can turn our Texas visits into Zand’s visits...
Read moreDuring a week-long trip from Austin to College Station, I stumbled upon Zand's and I'm so glad I did. The food is AMAZING!
When we first got there, the very small restaurant was completely empty. Our server and the owner/cook were the only two working. Our server greeted us very friendly and promptly, and the owner popped out from the back with a very excited "Hello! Welcome!".
We ordered the lamb kabudeh and chicken plates. The food came out in about 15 minutes and was absolutely delicious! Our plates didn't have a single grain of rice left on them when we were done, and my boyfriend enjoyed it so much that he decided to order not one but two more gyro wraps before leaving. It was so good that the next day, I stopped to grab two more wraps on my way out of town.
My only suggestion would be some music. By the time we left, there were two other tables seated, and the restaurant is quite small so we could hear other people's conversations clear as day, but honestly aside from that there isn't a single thing I would change!
I will absolutely be going to Zand's EVERY time I'm...
