After reading all of the glowing reviews I was excited to try the Rice Wagon.. food was hit and miss... My garlic chicken was not edible when I attempted to eat it.. I ate in my hotel room within 20minutes of it being ordered" it had the potential to be awesome for the seasoning flavor was good.. problem was it was overcooked and all but 2 pieces were inedible..hard and tough and by the way I asked if it was white meat and was told yes" it's popcorn chicken tossed in garlic sauce..it was not white meat but dark thigh meat which I don't like.. disappointed for I was so Hungry I was glad the 2 sides that came with it "white rice and macaroni salad" tasted good..also my friends meal which was a chicken sandwich ( The big Kanaka) I was told "tasted great"...the employee that took order was friendly and gave a buzzer to alert us when it was done which was about a 15minute wait ..prices were pretty steep.. for the two meals I paid with a tip $39 bucks"" that's quite a bit for a takeout food truck meal.. and if your on a budget or with a family that's pretty steep prices...*if I could had eaten mine I wouldn't complain of price but not acceptable when one meal was cooked well ( the sandwich) and some( the garlic chix) is totally overcooked..for that reason I would not...
Read moreAbout a year ago, we found this little slice of heaven, enjoying our beer from Mountain Layers (good stuff!),.and devouring our food. Left a 5 â review, but the ensuing food coma caused me to put off applying the appropriate verbiage. This time, I am endeavoring to correct that most heinous error. The Rice Wagon must be something out of Harry Potter, maybe it's another version of a TARDIS, because there is no way that tiny little trailer can possibly be creating such delicious works of art! If you come to Bryson City, you'll probably ride the train, go through the train museum, shoot through the (now expanding) aquarium, eat breakfast at the Everett St diner {or else!}, Browse the many cool shops, all because those are probably the most iconic parts of this little city. But if you don't go to the Rice Wagon, you will have wasted your entire trip to this beautiful little town. Might as well not even have taken that vacation in the first place. If you're still reading this, you have little else to do, so you might as well head over to the Rice Wagon. And get a nice beverage from Mountain Layers... I mean you're...
Read moreI went here on Friday and then came back next the day cause it was that good. The chicken katsu is fantastic. I highly highly recommend spending a few extra bucks to get the double combo so you can multiple items. On my second visit I got the pulled pork and garlic chicken. OH MY! The smoky flavor of the pulled pork is incredible and that depth of flavor in the garlic chicken is outstanding. I would order this again and again if I could. Highly recommend ordering a side of the bell pepper aioli it is next level. The macaroni salad you should be prepared to fall in love with and order a to go pint!!
Note: this food truck is busy and they take the time to prepare the food fresh. Be prepared to wait about 15 minutes for your meal, but trust me it is absolutely worth it.
Both times, the workers were so nice and kind to me and very helpful. Having people who make you feel like you are welcome and appreciated makes the meal experience so so so much better. I appreciate how kind and helpful they were even though they were so busy and probably stressed.
Can't wait to...
