We were up the street at Pour and on a recommendation of a couple people that were in our group, suggested and decided to go to Senor Tequila. We called ahead for a reservation and the person on the phone wasn't particularly friendly, but people can be busy so we let it go.
On arrival almost every table was open, but it was close to their opening time, so again, everything was good. We were seated and placed our drink order. The server appeared to be newer but was trying her best. We subsequently placed our food order and this is where it started to become more apparent that they are not running efficiently, as it took forever for food to show up.
The restaurant slowly started to fill and adjacent tables were extremely frustrated with the level of service, waiting for drinks, placing their food order etc. They were getting ready to walk-out. So it wasn't just us. They seemed understaffed, as our server appeared to be handling all of the tables. Our second round of drinks had a couple issues with the wine not being the correct type. Is was not the same as the first glass (was very sweet). The waitress did repour, but we did get charged for the incorrect ones (we had to have the bill adjusted at the end).
With the extended wait came a necessary trip to the rest rooms. They were not very clean, one of the stalls was "blown up" and was a real appetite killer. There was no soap in the men's room and came to find out none in the women's room. How are the staff washing their hand? The water was cold too. When someone from our party mentioned the missing soap, they gave them a grungy 3/4 used industrial sized container.
People in our party after this wanted to leave after this. Even the couple that recommended it were in favor of doing so, as things were spiraling out of control. We did not want to stiff the waitress so we waited and took it in as a learning experience. The food eventually arrived and was good, not great. The food was the best thing about our visit. Everything else from service, to cleanliness was unfortunately a disappointment. As things currently stand I could not recommend this. Hopefully they get their act together. Apparently it was good at one time, but definitely not...
Read moreI've been meaning to write a review for this place since I went there for dinner on my birthday - who doesn't love tacos and margaritas on their bday.
It was a Wednesday night at 8 pm, the restaurant was pretty empty, maybe 2-3 other tables when we came in, which was nice - it was quiet and the music wasn't too loud.
We were seated immediately and had a really nice server who was super attentive but not overly annoying considering the restaurant wasn't busy.
We were served nachos and salsa almost immediately (the first 2 baskets are complimentary). The salsa tasted super fresh, but slightly watery, and nachos weren't too greasy..
They have 30+ flavours of margaritas, but they didnt' have a drink menu. I got a blueberry and my husband got a classic lime - both were really good, didn't taste overly full of artificial flavour + you can swap salt for sugar - awesome for 7$.
We ordered: taco dinner with ground beef and a steak a la mexicana.
The ground beef was seasoned really well, the hard shell tacos were super thin and crispy but didn't fall apart, there was only cheese/lettuce as a topping which was a little insufficient IMO.
The taco dinner also came with a side of red rice and beans, which I am usually disapointed in from alot of mexican restaurants due to a severe lack of flavor, but Senor Tequilas was pretty decent. Rice flavour subtle, beans w/ cheese a little salty, but when mixed up, so satisfying.
The steak a la mexicana literally had me drooling as soon as it was put on the table. I don't know what it was about this sauce but it was crack. A little spicy for me, but still crack. I put some of those onions and peppers in my tacos and I was in heaven.
I have been craving to go back to this place and its only...
Read moreI don't usually read or write reviews to restaurants or movies because I'd rather experience a place for myself, however after my experience here, I think I will. My friend and I went to this restaurant on 2/9/19 at 9 pm after leaving the auto show. We were kindly greeted by a young man and seated fairly soon thereafter. There were 3 people working the bar and handling drink requests from people who approached the bar randomly, but only 2 small parties of people actually eating. Long story short, after waiting 20 mins we NEVER got approached. To make things worse, two guys walked in and were approached and asked what they were going to order to drink before they even sat down. The greeter/host must've seen this and came over to ask had we been approached by a waitress. We said no. The greeter/host then went in the back to grab the chips and salsa as well as told someone that we were there. After 10 additional minutes, we STILL never were approached. But the guys a few tables from us put in their drink orders AND had a waitress repeatedly approach them. We were extremely angry. When we decided to leave, I expressed to the host/greeter the situation. He said he went to the back to inform someone that we were there. I said I appreciated his efforts and we left. I'm a black male and my friend is a black female. The guys that were helped before us were white males. I don't want to say this was a blatant act of purposely not wanting to serve black patrons, but honestly, how can I not? It's situations like this and other places like what happened at Bada Bing in 2018, that discourage black people from going to restaurants around here. But that might be the plan. Thank you for attending...
