My recent escapade to D-Tour Bar unfolded as a perplexing culinary odyssey, one that left me with a heavy heart and a grumbling stomach. In what should have been a simple transaction, I requested a burger to go, accompanied by a crisp Coke. The bartender, however, had other plans in mind.
As the bill graced my table, it was revealed that my Coke had been surreptitiously swapped for a Pepsi, a betrayal that had already been lamented. Yet, there was more treachery to be uncovered on this gastronomic journey.
The French fries that accompanied my burger were drenched in an excessive sea of grease. It was as if they had taken a dip in an oil well before making their way to my plate. Each bite was a slippery slope into a world of culinary discomfort, where the line between deliciousness and overindulgence had been decidedly crossed.
But the heartache didn't end there. The burger, a beacon of hope in this tumultuous dining experience, proved to be a disappointment of its own. It was marred by an overwhelming assault of salt, rendering it nearly inedible. My taste buds were held hostage by the sodium overload, and I longed for a culinary escape.
In retrospect, my visit to D-Tour Bar was marked by a series of culinary misfortunes. The deliberate substitution of my beverage, the greasy abyss that engulfed my French fries, and the overly salted burger cast a pall over what should have been a simple meal.
In light of these regrettable experiences, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend D-Tour Bar. It is my fervent hope that they take this feedback to heart and embark on a journey to restore their reputation for honest service and well-prepared cuisine. Until then, travelers of taste, beware the rocky path that leads to D-Tour...
Read moreWhile waiting for a flight in Dulles, I engaged with two very nice ladies from Buffalo and asked them for places in the city to eat. D-Tour was their first recommendation, so the Missus and I decided to make a reservation and check it out.
It was not overly busy yet at 5:30 on a Friday, so the atmosphere was incredibly laid back. Our server, Sam, was attentive and knowledgeable of all things on the menu. Since the Early Bird Special was recommended by my travel companions, the Missus and I decided we'd each do that.
The spicy corn, shrimp and andouille soup for the first course was excellent with the right amount of flavor and spice. The salad vegetables were crisp and fresh, and the ranch dressing (the Missus is from the Midwest - everything must come with ranch) tasted better than most from a bottle (not sure if it is made in house or not).
We both got the burger and they were cooked perfectly (medium rare for me and medium for her). The french fries were crispy and the portions were large - even for someone like me who can pack away most restaurant meals no problem.
We had to get our desserts to go, but I am sure they will be just as good as everything else. The Key Line Pie and Snickers Caramel Peanut Butter Pie both looked great.
She also had a glass of the red sangria which was a solid balance of refreshing fruit flavors and alcohol content. All in all we had a great time, at a great place, and for a three course meal - an excellent price. I would definitely recommend D-Tour to anyone in the...
Read moreHi, we made reservations for approximately 3 tables to celebrate a friends promotion and up coming birthday asked if there was a dress code, no reply.Everyone in attendance was law enforcement. Upon arrival we noticed the dress code and one of our guest had the rip jeans she stayed outside. Our waiter was very nice and said the dress code is only for the weekends and that she was fine. The owner basically said the opposite when another guest arrived not in dress code and was sent away. He was very rude said that he didn’t care what the waiter said. I took a pic of dress code to send so others wouldn’t get turned away. As I said we were all law enforcement just getting off work wanting to celebrate another officer’s promotion. The guest who was turned away returned properly dressed and once again the owner was approaching him as he greeted the lady of the hour and said we all had to sit down. This was the third time owner took issue with our presence. We didn’t feel welcomed at all and yes everyone was black. Politely and without conflict we squared away our bills, left nice tip for waiter (he was excellent) and exited to Bada Bings across the street, who welcomed us and provided great service ensuring...
