As a black person, I wanted to support a Black-owned business, so I took my lady on a date to this establishment. I made a reservation for 7pm. Upon arriving, we stood and waited to be greeted and seated. We waited, and waited, and waited until one of the bartenders/servers noticed us. And then proceed to ignore us. I approached the bar, got her attention, but again she ignored us. I had to follow her to the end of the bar where she was having a casual conversation with the person that ended up being our server after me saying EXCUSE ME! to both of them.
After telling the young man that I had a reservation, he looked at his watch and proceeded to ask us to pick a table. After being seated he asked us if we were "in a hurry" I said, "no" and he said, "oh, yall look like yall got somewhere to be after this".
He brought out menus and gave us time to decide what to order, after a while he came back to take the order. We told him what he wanted, and he said, O.K. he took our menus, only to come back and tell us that another bartender said we can only order from the late-night menu.
Long story, short, they didn't have what my lady wanted off that menu either. And they didn't have want she wanted to drink in stock. The food was not good. It arrived so fast, I could tell it was frozen and heated up. There was no way that our food was prepared, and cooked fresh, at that moment. As we sat there, 3 couples came into the restaurant and were given the same treatment that we got when we arrived.
I love giving supporting my people, and giving them my business, but not at the expense of courtesy and quality. I will not be eating at...

We looked for locations within walking distance to the arena and remembered seeing the Rose Bar & Grill when we were leaving Hofbrauhaus a few months ago (across the street). We did a google search and saw favorable reviews, so we decided to check it out.
It is located inside of the old Fairmount Creamery building. The lobby area is pretty cool with some pictures and history about the building. Once we steeping inside the Rose Bar & Grill we received a warm welcome from the bartender and shortly thereafter by our waitress who gave us options for high or low tables. Some R&B played in the background and the place had a chill vibe.
There was a decent selection of food and drink options. The beverages especially were priced competitively, with some domestic beers at only $4. We got the chicken fingers which are similar to most in the area. They did come with crinkle cut fries which I am not normally a big fan of, but these were better than most and were crispy with good flavor. Our server was really friendly
While we were there it never got too busy and I would say with a few tweaks this could be a gem, especially given the location (even more so if there are long lines at adjacent restaurants). The indoor space has potential and could see it being busier. There is an adjacent patio space that would be cool if it were utilized for outdoor seating (not sure if it's the restaurants...
Read moreI frequent this establishment quite often. I had visited this past weekend which was my 2nd time in the week but never my 1st time overall. I had family in town and of course I knew the spot I would take them. I order as usual a chicken quesadilla or the fish on Fridays, typically. well, the sour cream that comes with the quesadilla was sour. I took a few bites with dipping my quesadilla into the sour cream then I tried it without the sour cream because the taste was very sour and had a spoiled smell. By no means am I a complainer when it comes to food because I am not looking for a discount or free food. All I wanted to do was bring it to the waiter or manager attn. Well it was the manager/owner. She obliges as I told the issue. She later returns with TWO containers of the sour cream to show me the dates! I did not ask for these measures, but ok. I asked her to smell the sour cream that I had but she said her nose stuffy. I'm not disputing the dates because dates typically don't matter especially if something was sitting out for a period of time or not refrigerated right away. As a professional culinary expert, dairy, meats and other foods need certain temps and refrigeration expeditiously no matter a date! And for the record, to bring out 2 containers of sour cream is now cross contamination and less refrigeration time that it now has! I only wanted to bring awareness of the spoiled sour cream I had. I did not need...
