Super excited to see STB here in buffalo yay! And even better it's in the old 716 location (that's a good thing)
Food was good I had the smash burger. Would have preferred whole lettuce pieces and onion as opposed to shredded lettuce and diced onion. Other than that burger was good. My company got the honey beef tips said they were amazing except she wasn't asked how she would like them cook. Lucky for her they were well done 🙂. I on the other would not have been pleased with that as I prefer med rare. (I was gonna order it but she beat me too it)
Staffing was really light. By that I mean I seen 1 bartender and the bar was full 1 waitress and the 1st floor was decently full and the host who was also cleaning tablesand doing other duties.
The host thing kinda got to me here's why: I came in from the parking garage upstairs there is a sign that said see host downstairs okay make your way down but no other direction on where to go. Coming down the stairs you land in the bar area and it feels like you should seat yourself but there is no menus on the tables. So I asked some random employee (cook maybe 🤔) who was doing whatever and he directed me to the front of the building alrighty...well host was actually getting what seemed like a Togo order from the back so he wasn't there. Not long he showed up. Yay... From my seat I watched about 4 different groups of people come in. 3 from the front door walk in see the host station empty and decide to seat themselves. The other group was like me lost coming from the garage area. Out of the 4 groups 2 left (because they were waiting awhile to be served menus ect) and the other 2 decided to skip waiter service and sit at the bar bc again no one acknowledged them because no one knew they were there.
Overall my personal experience was decent food was tasty overall and my server Bella was very pleasant. I think 1 or 2 additional staff members would have made everything a bit more smooth for myself and for those who moved their seat or left. Definitely going back maybe during football season they can impress me a bit more.
Beer recommendation: 2XCitrus amazing 🤩
Update: thanks for the reply I totally understand, and again I do plan on coming back 😊 it wasn't a terrible...
Read moreI visited Southern Tier Brewing Buffalo Taproom from Toronto, ON in July 2025, looking forward to a good meal and local craft beer with my group. Unfortunately, the experience turned into one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had, and a serious health concern.
I ordered the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, which came highly recommended by our server. It looked fine at first glance but upon taking a few bites, I noticed the chicken was visibly pink inside. When I brought this up to the staff, the manager tried to brush it off, claiming the pink color came from the hot sauce and buttermilk they dredge the chicken in, not undercooking. I’ve eaten a lot of hot chicken in my life, and this explanation didn’t sit right with me. The manager advised he was going to take my meal to the kitchen to be assessed and come back, but never did return. Given the lack of patrons at the restaurant that day, this is the least they could have done.
Later that evening, I began experiencing severe food poisoning symptoms. So much so, I even contemplated calling for an ambulance given the state I was in. The symptoms lingered over the next 24 hours, but my group was eventually able to get us back to Toronto. Following a visit by the Department of Health, the restaurant was hit with 8 critical and 4 non-critical violations. Among those violations were issues specifically related to the handling of buttermilk and chicken products.
Most upsetting of all, Southern Tier Brewing took zero ownership or accountability for what happened that day. No apology, no effort to follow up, but they still happily charged me for the meal; A sandwich that was less than half-eaten and a side of pineapple coconut slaw that was untouched, until we asked for the meal to be removed from our bill.
Food safety is a non-negotiable, this kind of negligence is unacceptable, and this experience has completely destroyed my trust in Southern Tier despite other reviews.
Until they take real steps to correct these food safety issues and treat their customers with transparency and respect, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. I for one...
Read moreA group of us came here after a Buffalo River boat tour. This used to be a different sport bar, and it's now leased by a different company known for its microbrewery (I like their Bemus Point location). I love football and they had the Bills game on (whoot! red signal lights whenever they score). They also were showing golf and Premier League soccer. We sat upstairs so we could sit together. Note that it is VERY loud upstairs, much more so than the downstairs. I don't know if it was because of staffing issues, but the setup for upstairs was confusing. We had to order drinks & food at the bar. They didn't want to give you a receipt unless you opened a tab. You had to either wait there or go back to the bar to get your food, so how would one know when it was ready? And that's why we wanted receipts. Also because it was loud, customers couldn't always hear what names were being called by the bartenders, thinking it was their food that was ready. I suggest they find another system to make this more efficient and less cumbersome for bartenders and customers. It's not a huge menu, but the food was good. My companion enjoyed their turkey wrap, and I tried some of their hand cut fries - delicious 😋. It seemed like most of their offerings had an extra spicy component to it. I had the chicken mole burrito and it was spectacular. But the carrots and onions that came with it on the plate seemed to have been soaked in jalapeño vinegar juice. It was sour and way too hot. I would have rather had the fries. They have high chairs on the floor level. Seems too loud to bring small children. The bathrooms were clean and nice. We all parked in the LeCom parking garage that is a part of the same building complex, but I didn't see a way that you could conveniently go from...
