October 2019 wedding - The Admiral Room
Having attended nearly 30 weddings together, we wanted something new and different for our wedding. The Admiral Room is simply stunning; undeniably beautiful! When we went to tour it, we thought "this is IT!"
But with that being said, the path leading up to our wedding day (planning/coordinating with the director) was a COMPLETE nightmare. No return calls, no return emails (for over one month, on two separate occasions...only three months before our wedding). Just a general lack of respect to the people paying them money. We never felt as though our wedding was a priority, until the week-of. All we wanted were answers/confirmation to simple things (Can we add craft beer? Can we get it from Community Beer Works? You said we'd need to get a keg...how do we go about doing that? The groom's parents would like to cover the cost of the bar...can you give us an estimate of the cost of the bar itself?) These are simple straight-forward questions that any venue/banquet hall should be able to answer in well under one month. But no, we were straight up ignored. I sent the same exact email every week for five consecutive weeks. I mean, really? My bridesmaids were simply amazed (and disgusted) by the lack of respect and unprofessionalism throughout the entire process (the director of sales/catering was drunk during our rehearsal - No, I'm not kidding). I could list several other disappointments, including (but not limited to) the bar not having the two craft beers that the director assured us we would have. The two craft beers that were on our contract. Apparently they "couldn't get it", but didn't feel it was important to let us know? Again, just one thing after the other.
In the end, our wedding day ended up being amazing thanks to the wait staff, bartenders and chef. I also owe it to the day-of-coordinator that we hired to make sure things were placed where we wanted them, etc.
I've since heard mixed reviews from other brides/friends of brides that had their wedding at the Admiral...some had an amazing experience, and others were simply disappointed. Unfortunately I was one of the brides that was pushed to the side. I typically don't write negative reviews, but people deserve to know that this is a possibility when booking with the Admiral Room.

If you are planning a corporate function or a non-profit fundraising event, the Admiral Room is hands-down the best place to do it in Buffalo. The venue looks amazing and the event planning and service team are world-class professionals, yet they are friendly and easy to work with. If you have a strong vision for your event, this team will go above and beyond to help you bring it to fruition. I cannot recommend this place enough.
In-depth Review:
The Venue: This place is beautiful. The first thing you will notice is the incredible height of the ceiling. It is spacious on fairy-tale castle levels. The lighting system is customizable and the columns can be illuminated with thousands of different colors, so you can create any type of ambience you need. The most incredible thing is that you can change the colors in real-time with a tap of the button, so if you have multiple stages in your program, you can create a different atmosphere for each phase of the night.
The sound system is equally impressive. The Admiral Room has speakers on each of the many columns spread throughout the venue, which creates a perfect surround sound experience that is delightful for all guests. Having multiple wireless microphones made emceeing the event and simultaneously showcasing performers a piece of cake.
The Event Team: We worked mainly with Josh, the director of catering. He is down-to-earth and easy to talk with. This made program planning so easy because he has such a positive can-do attitude. He mostly let us run with our ideas and told us how he could support them, and offered constructive advice if he saw some limitations with our plans. He is also accommodating. He knew the scope of our event and understood our team would need hours to set up. He allowed us to come in early to lay the ground-work for our event and even had other team members there to help us. In total we met with him three times before our event.
The most outstanding quality of Josh and his team was their adaptability during the actual event. Any time we hit a snag in timing or an issue during the night, Josh or a member of his team were there immediately to help us figure it out.
Overall, our organization is really looking forward to hosting events at The Admiral Room...
   Read moreOur experience at The Admiral Room was nothing short of amazing! Cindy, Josh, and Kate went above and beyond to make our wedding reception truly unforgettable. From the very beginning, they were professional, accommodating, and incredibly kind. One of our tastings didn’t go exactly how we envisioned, and when we shared our feedback, they handled it with such grace and professionalism. They immediately scheduled another tasting to ensure everything was perfect, which we really appreciated.
The food at the wedding was absolutely spectacular. My friends and family—many of whom traveled from out of town—kept telling me it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had! The quality and presentation were top-notch, and it really elevated the entire event.
One of the most special moments of the night was when Josh sang our last dance song. His voice is truly magical—when I first heard him sing, it brought me to tears. His opera voice was breathtaking and added an emotional, unforgettable touch to our celebration. I’ll always be grateful for him making our last dance so incredibly special.
Josh also made the entire process of dropping off decor a breeze. He was so sweet, helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. I can't thank him and the team enough for working with my vision and helping to bring it to life with such talent and care.
The venue itself is beyond gorgeous. The architecture, the stunning marble, and the open one-room concept truly sold me on The Admiral Room. It was the perfect setting for our reception, and I wouldn’t change a thing about our experience. If you’re looking for a venue that not only delivers in food and service but also in genuine hospitality and attention to detail, I wholeheartedly recommend The Admiral Room.
