I'll start by saying the Atmosphere is one of the best that Bullhead City has to offer
I was impressed with how prompt we were greeted and seated... the decor and furnishings were top notch I enjoyed looking around and taking it all in...
The restaurant was clean as well as the mens restroom
The service could have been better... Jared while giving us ample time to paruze the menu we were checked on Regularly, My girlfriend ordered an Italian soda, I ordered a water with Lemon, and we ordered a Lemonade for the little one. While we were still considering what to order Jared brought out the drinks unfortunately he forgot the lemon for my water which I reminded him and he said he would bring a small plate of them... we ordered a kids pizza with pepperoni, my girlfriend got a stuffed shells, and I ordered the New York platter which Jared was able to substitute the chicken parmesan for eggplant parmesan I also ordered the soup which Never came out so after we were half way through the meal I asked for it to be taken off the bill... After ordering I got Jared's attention to add on an appetizer at which point he realized he still had not brought me lemon for my water... and throughout the entire service I was never offered a refill on that water... although Jared did offer a refill for the kids Lemonade to which we declined.
Now on to the food:
The appetizer sampler: I enjoyed the fried zucchini the crust was the best part but the size of the zucchini inside each piece were different thickness thus causing an inconsistent flavor and texture but I still enjoyed it... the artichoke dip my girlfriend and I agreed the dip was over flavored with parmesan and a little on the salty side with very little flavor of artichoke. The bread was great. And the marinara was okay. The fried ravioli was okay, the stuffing was a little on the bland side.
The entrees: New York platter: I enjoyed the 3 stuffed shells, especially with the change up in the sauce having had meat. The eggplant parmesan was prepared nicely. I enjoyed the texture in the crust. Unfortunately, the sauce was rather bland and reminded me of sauce from a can, if this is truly cooked and reduced, simmered for hours on end in kitchen. A little more care could go into the seasoning and flavor. The Alfredo sauce, remind me of sauce out of a store bought jar. While creamy, it just lacked any flavor and wow factor, not even my pasta loving four year old would eat it. The fettuccine noodles, however, we're cooked to perfection. And while I thought that the meatball had a robust flavor and was not just a ball of hamburger. My girlfriend equated it to that of ball of over seasoned meatloaf so she and I definitely had a difference of opinion on that one. i think the meatball would have been a little bit better, if it had a little bit more of a browned crust on the outside of it.
Stuffed shells: unfortunately, this dish did not go over well at all. The sauce ruined it for her. Entirely, she did not eat it. She did make a reference, our waiter, That the sauce was of very poor quality. She said after we left that she feels that if the sauce is made in kitchen that obviously the cookware, maybe causing it to have a irony taste to it.
Overall, it saddens me that such a beautiful establishment seems to takes so little care into the flavor of their food. And to be honest, the food reminds me overall of a budget catering service not terrible, but not something you'd want to frequent. And I'm leaving this 2 star review overall off of atmosphere alone.
I'm in no...
Read moreWent here a few days ago because someone in the group had heard the restaurant was very good based on the mozzarella sticks. Whatever, I'm simply the plus one, so off we went.
Restaurant is in a strip mall and looks as if they have a buffet on a certain day? We walked in and there was a setup for a buffet (cleaned chafing dishes and what looks to be like a possible carving station.) Not sure if that's for Mother's Day coming up or if it is a regular feature.
There is quite a large seating area. Seems like this space is meant to be used for large events to host probably 200 people. I've seen other reviews complaining about lack of coziness. It's not a big deal to me, but if you're looking for a quaint, cozy, or romantic restaurant, this probably isn't it.
I have Celiac and can't have gluten. The menu is not marked but the waiter (who was fantastic) said they could make a few sauces gluten free. There is a $3.50 upcharge for zucchini noodles which feels very spendy on top of the already $20-$30 entrée prices. We are in a strip mall in Bullhead City, Arizona afterall
I ended up getting the $18 antipasto salad without bread. Unfortunately it was incredibly bland despite all of the ingredients in it. It needed some acidity in it to cut the fat from the meat and cheese and oil dressing.
While I couldn't eat the appetizers, the $10 mozzarella sticks looked identical to what is sold in the freezer section. The group also ordered the $19 Meoni Sampler. I noticed that the artichoke dip on the sampler was barely touched by the other 4 people in the party. Almost none of the bread was eaten by the group.
People at the table ordered $29 veal parmesan, $26 pesto shrimp tortellini, $22 shrimp scampi and $21 chicken Alfredo. Three of the four didn't eat the bulk of their pasta. (The pesto tortellini must have been the standout.) One asked for a box for her Alfredo but then said she didn't know why she asked because she wasn't planning to eat the leftovers.
I feel like the prices are a bit too spendy for this location. I also don't think people leaving a lot of their food on their plates is indicative of them liking what they ordered to warrant me rating this 3 stars.
Service was FANTASTIC, so no complaints...
Read moreI had high expectations for this restaurant, given the reviews I've seen. It was.... a bar or two over "okay" All in our party ordered the Lasagna and lobster bisque. We arrived about 4PM and waited well over 40 minutes for our food. Apparently the kitchen was finishing up a large to-go order so we were delayed. It was late afternoon and it was fairly empty but in spite of that, we had to request a refill on our drinks because it became obvious the server was not going to offer. The lobster bisque was "okay" I would consider Meoni's to be a fine dining establishment and the bisque was acceptable but not exceptional. How about throwing some lobster pieces in the bisque? (Update: my wife just had some lobster bisque we bought at Walmart and it was actually better than what we were served here. And yes there were lobster pieces in the Walmart bisque. That’s quite an indictment)When we were served our lasagna entrees my first impression was "HUGE". It was the largest I've ever been served at a restaurant and can easily be shared with a dining partner. Again.... it was good, but not exceptional. (My wife disagrees with me. She thought it was great) In the future, I would order it again but only if I was splitting it with someone. Otherwise, I'd pass. My preference would be to try my luck on another dish. With the hundreds of great reviews this place has, I'm missing something. I'd give it another chance though. My final gripe is that the place quotes 'CASH" prices on the menu and there is a 3% charge for credit cards AND debit cards. Anyone who has been in a business that accepts credit cards knows that the rate for debit cards is under 1%. I don't know why business do this. If the need is there to cover credit card processing fees, raise your prices enough to cover it without tagging your clientele for it separately. It's just a way to irritate your customer unnecessarily. So that was my first impression of Meoni's. As I said, I'll give them another chance, but if my impression doesn't improve, I'll dine Italian at one of their...
