Messy. Moldy. Mismanaged.
My boyfriend and I were here on August 6, 2020 around 7/8pm and it was a disaster. I wish I took pictures, place was disgusting.Three women were working the byo/pizza toppings section- it was messy beyond anything acceptable especially near the cheeses and meats... I understand there being some cross contamination to a degree when working in this system of preparing food...
It's pretty UNACCEPTABLE when there is MOLD all over the meats. The ham clearly has blue fuzzy mold spores on that, how is that possible to miss and how are these employees turning a blind eye to it? There was a lot of meat items that looked passed their prime even looking frost bitten and grey. There was cheese in just about every single item they had near the cheeses- they were just throwing the cheese at times- work station covered in cheese. There was zero method of even thinking maybe this area needs a little cleaning so it's not overwhelming. The workers there looked extremely overwhelmed- there wasn't many people in the building at the time we went two couples before us and maybe four after us? They were working pretty quickly but not that efficiently.. I mean how do you all not recognize mold in your food? Clearly every single employee here needs to take a food and health class.
I asked the workers to changed their gloves before handling my food which I do anyways. The girl who made our pizza only handled ours at the time. Anyways she asked what we were ordering and I said I was getting a original crust pizza byo/vegan- she then assumes my bf wanted the same, he usually gets thick crust but she already decided for him... She ask what sauce I wanted I said spicy marinara, she spreads it- had some cheese in it- didn't even think to take it out. I only noticed after she decided my bf also wanted spicy red- he doesn't really like spicy, he told he that isn't what he wanted and she scoops it back into the sauce containers, then puts original on top.. At that point I noticed the cheese and him and I decided to switch pizzas since I don't eat dairy but he does. She got us new vegan cheese since it was out and put the veggies on. Finally not making the same mistake of making our pizzas exactly the same when that's not what we asked for.
We go up to pay and my bf tells the men working near the pizza oven and cashier about the moldy meats, and he walks over and tells the girls to change it.. there was like seven workers in there at the time, how can mold be easily missed...
At the end the guy topping the pizzas was just throwing boxes on top of the pizza, my box was covered in meat.
I wouldn't be surprised if anyone's gotten food poisoning from this location, they need to fire all their employees and get new ones who aren't feeding the public moldy...
Read moreI'd never been to a Blaze pizza before but hadn't eaten all day and was in a hurry. It was 9:40 pm, so I popped by to get a pizza to go. As I walk in, the employee (large, tall Hispanic dude with round glasses, in case anybody else has had a run-in with him) stops his conversation with his co-worker and gives me a confused death stare. I ask if they're already closed, since that's what the moment felt like. He looks at his watch and says "uh, we're about to, yeah." I said "You mean in 20 minutes?" He goes "yeah, but we're closing down now."
Set aside the fact that he should be grateful to even have a job right now, given the fact a lot of us -- myself included -- have had our jobs shut down by the government for 5+ months. If you want to be free by 10pm at night, then maybe don't apply for a job that is open till 10pm. I'm not the kind of person to go into a dine-in restaurant any less than 45 minutes before close, and I never stay seated in a restaurant after it closes. But this was a to-go order at a place with ready to go ingredients and very little variation in menu items. It wouldn't have been hard to make a pizza. And finally, they weren't closed. They were open. If the ownership intended to have all customers out by 10, they'd close before 10.
This location seriously needs to consider the kind of employees it hires. And for what it's worth, I certainly won't ever be giving Blaze...
Read moreThis is more of a "helpful hint" rather than a review. My family and I visited today around 5:10 p.m. It has been raining for 3 days here in Southern California, and it is quite slippery. When we entered through the door closest to the counter, the rug was about a foot from the entryway. My son, age 7, slipped on the wet floor, and landed, legs akimbo, on the ground. He started to cry. There were 3 employees behind the counter. None asked if he was okay, or offered to help him up. I comforted him, and we approached the counter. None of the employees wear name tags, so it's impossible to identify them. The sole girl did not greet me, did not offer to help, but instead looked at me expectantly because customer service is dead.
I looked around. There were wet spots all over the floor. No employee was tasked with mopping it up. The "wet floor" signs were stacked one on top of the other next to the soda fountain. The manager kept going outside to speak on his cell phone on what appeared to be personal calls. Neither he nor his employees asked if my son needed medical attention or even did an incident report.
I hope Blaze corporate reads this review, and makes the necessary changes. If you did slip on the floor at this establishment, I would be happy to be a...
