On Sunday after church, we went to this restaurant to go eat as we pulled up. The location is amazing. They have several parking when you walk up. They have an outside seating that is covered which is truly amazing. They have two big TVs in there and then you walk into the restaurant and to the right of you, several of you they also have other tables which you can have like a host of big party here or something lots of potential the hostess was very nice as we were there. We watched her attended to people and she was doing what she had to do and also behind the scenes and we seen her working on utensils, which is really nice that she wasn’t just sitting waiting for people to come in. She was actually working as we came in. They offered us one table, but we decided we wanted to sit the bigger one. We were gonna be waiting for some of our party to come so me, and my sister sat down automatically. We brought some chips, salsa, and beans for dipping, that was really nice of them we asked for an extra basket for the other side of our table waitress looked at us like all you want, but it was OK. They went and got it as we sat down. We just asked for water and then we decided after a while what it was that we wanted to order we ended up ordering one Menudo and we had to ask about because the price of the fish and they told us it would be $32 and some change and we were OK with that. We ordered it for due to an accident on the freeway took a little longer to get to us but when the food came out, it looked truly amazing, the Menudo looked to be really good. The fish was amazing but as they begin to eat, I asked one of the sisters how’s it honestly and she said I guess OK my other sister she didn’t look pleased. I was like oh what’s going on and then I was like oh it doesn’t have any salt pretty much had no flavor at all, but the plate was very beautiful. The fish was so big, it was such a beautiful plate and so sad that it had no flavor when my husband came out and it was a shrimp plate and we have had this plate at many other places and this was totally nothing like what other places had it have like full bed of rice, shrimp on the side and it’s on dish and a small piece of steak. Definitely not what we expected and we had ordered a Molcajete and that totally was not what we expected. It came in a big play and on a small plate it had shrimp and mushrooms and onions, mostly all onions and mushrooms. The flavors were actually really good, but it wasn’t a Molcajete. We ordered a few sodas Dr Pepper. Those were amazing my brother-in-law ordered a beer we ate and we left, but we did return the fish and we did get that refunded to us. My sister didn’t order anything else. She said that she would be fine, it was so sad that food looked really good. The establishment is really nice. Lots of potential. I would love to go back and see that they change some things. I understand if this is how they like to be but yeah, it needs a little touchup I had a lot of fake flowers inside and that to me just has always looked a little tacky a little dirty but some people do like that. I did see that they had so much area it’s so nice. nothing had several regulars, which was pretty nice. I didn’t see a lot of people coming in and out one other thing I didn’t like that as we were eating their cooks in the back were screaming every little while when we looked at the waitresses, she said oh he always do that. It’s OK, it’s kind of annoying, especially if you’re trying to have a dinner with family caring a person screaming in the back is not something that you’d like to hear at that moment the location was nice. I love the service. The location has very very much so potential just the food was not satisfying. It definitely needed a lot more flavor and it was very bland. The cup sodas were so good the service was amazing the salsa and chips and...
Read more*This review is coming from someone who was born/grew up in Mexico and in a mexican family with many latin families from different parts of latin america in the area. Do with it what you will.
La Costa mexican restaurant is a must try place. Their atmosphere and mural paintings has an almost home feel to it. One of the murals even looks like the small plaza where I spend my summers at when I visited my grandparents called tlaxcala zacualpan. The service was Impecable and so friendly. They seemed to all enjoy their work here as I saw some playful banter among the staff. As well as all helping a group celebrate their parents birthday by signing part of our traditional birthday song. A definite 10/10 on service and atmosphere. The food was also very well made. While i was there I got to try el Pollo en mole(chicken in mole) and Camarones (shrimp) Cabo Blanco. As well as the margarita strawberry and the mango one. First of all the mole was amazingly done. A true mexican dish where you need to know how much of each ingredient to put in or the dish could come out unbearably spiced making it taste as nothing but in your face spices. The rice was perfectly seasoned and tasted as fluffy as biting into small little clouds of flavor. The beans where so well mashed and cooked you would have believed they came like that from the earth. Now the sauce and the shrimp was probably by far my favorite part. If you want a more savory sauce on shrimp you must be someone who can't be satisfied. As the sauce hit my tounge my hairs stood on end as the hint of lime and cream rushed in to take over all my senses. This place is definitely a restaurant I will be returning to. My only grievance would be that the salsa was a bit to mild and the vegetables had a touch more pepper than I would have liked. Overall I give this place an American score of 10/10 for mexican food and a mexican score of 9/10. Amazing job. P.S. Be careful with the margaritas if you're a...
Read moreSo i was reading the reviews, holy hell, this is a common thing with the restaurant, they only take care of their own. So if you're new, you'll be treated like crap until they decide your worth attending to. WHAT!!! Shouldn't you be kind to EVERYONE who walks through your door? After all, that's how you make regulars. I guess La Costa is different. Hummm what a strange way to bring in new customers.
After a bit of Christmas shopping, we decided to go eat somewhere away from the mall. Our spot is Azteca in Burien, our go-to place. But, we decided to try somewhere new. We always pass by La Costa but never stopped, so we said why not? My first impression wasn't good. The hostess seemed bothered to even be there, no greeting, how you doing.... NOTHING! She sat us and left, maybe I'm just used to Azteca where they greet you and tell us to enjoy our dinner. We were served our chips and salsa by Patty, who was wonderful! Asked about our day, told us to enjoy. Then... our waiter came over 😮💨 rude af, all he said was "ready" gave him our drink order, and walked away, a while later he was back, "ready " gave him the order, and left. Came back with the food, my go-to is Mole Enchiladas, yeah... NO. It was maybe a 4 out of 10. The rice was good. I don't know what they used but it didn't taste like mole at all. I can't even explain what it tastes like. I'm not going to try. Anyhoo, NOT ONCE did the server approach us, NEVER asked if we were good, NOTHING! I had to go up front to ask for the receipt after sitting there for 20 min waiting for him to bring the receipt. Now, some of you will say " its only 20 min" well, he was sitting and standing around doing nothing. At that he went to see if we left a tip... first time I never left one. I will never go back there. Like I always say... my opinion...
