We had guests come in from out of town who wanted some good sushi. We are not from this area but we had some local friends with us who told us that this place was really good. It looks like a little hole in the wall and that it is. Luckily, we made reservations because this place was packed if you look on the outside, you would not believe it but as you walk in this place is busy for a good reason. The sushi is fresh. The servers are very kind and knowledgeable and quick. It’s hard to find good service these days and these people are really doing it all the way around we had a great time. We laughed so much our cheeks and bellies hurt. It looks like this is a family run restaurant as the people leave guest leave they say goodbye and thank them for coming so we decided to join along and thank the customers and say goodbye as well. It became kind of a joke but also fun. The staff really appreciated us joining in with them and called us part of their family It was one of the best times our guest from Maryland said they had while in Seattle those little experiences that you get at restaurants like this that make all the difference, thank you so much for such a great time, there’s plenty of parking. The only suggestion is to make a reservation. This place is busy and for a good reason I love the fact that they put crunchy beets on top of the rolls which makes it healthy, colorful and a little bit different. They have a lot to choose from and they are not one of those places that put mayonnaise and cream cheese on everything, try this place out. You’ll love it and not wanna go anywhere else from Monroe and I’m willing to drive all the way down here for some great sushi. Thank you again for some great service a great time and...
Read moreThis was my second time trying Tori’s Sake and Grill, and I was really looking forward to the sushi, so much so that I brought a friend along to try it too. My first visit was great: the sushi was delicious and the manager was very kind, which is why I decided to come back. Unfortunately, this second experience was the complete opposite.
We ordered several different rolls and waited about 25 to 30 minutes for our food. One of the rolls that contained tuna tasted extremely fishy and unpleasant. It honestly seemed unsafe to eat. We had only tried one piece each before telling a staff member and asking if we could replace it with something else. Instead of offering a simple replacement, the staff member brought over the manager, who told us the only thing they could do was give us a discount on that roll. We immediately declined because no one wants to pay for food that could make them sick. I expect fresh, high-quality sushi when I dine out, not questionable fish and an argument about it. After going back and forth, the manager finally agreed to remove the roll from the bill but insisted that other customers had ordered it all day without complaints. That does not change the fact that ours was clearly off.
It is really disappointing that the manager chose to handle the situation this way. I was hoping for better customer service, especially since I was a returning customer who genuinely enjoyed my first visit. For now, I will be trying other sushi spots that actually care about the quality of their food and their...
Read moreWe were wonderfully surprised last night. We were staying overnight near SeaTac airport to catch a very early flight the next day. It was a miserable, cold snowy night and we were looking for a little sushi before dropping the car off at the ParkandRide. We would normally go to another spot over in Southcenter that we have been going to for years but this one came up with an extra half of a star and was 1 minute closer drive over in Burien.
We weren’t disappointed. Nothing fancy but the highest quality kanpachi and hamachi sashimi and delicious creamy, spicy scallop hand rolls. Unlimited tea and miso soup served by what I can only imagine was one of the owners. Very reasonably priced. Our only problem is that we had had a large lunch and weren’t as hungry as we would have liked to be. Next time though. Even though Burien isn’t around the corner for us anymore, I promise you we will find a way to get back soon. Lots of very imaginative rolls and other items to look forward to. We have been down on restaurant eating since the pandemic (high prices and mediocre food) but this place...
