Edit: I'm editing the review: I've been back several times since the previous review (3/5 stars), with no issues. I'm leaving the original review up for accuracy and transparency and adjusting my review to 5/5. Recently the quality of food and service has improved dramatically from the previous review. I want to thank the managers and staff.
Previous Review The food was excellent as always. I go here as a local several times a month and I mean this review in a constructive manner. I felt really bad for the bartender tonight (12 November 2022 @ 6:00pm). I want to make sure everyone knows that the bartender was amazing, attentive, and professional. She was an absolute delight always smiling and always checking on the bar area customers.
The gentleman performing barback duties tonight (lone ponytail, shaved head) who was "just waiting to finish hours and tip out" (his words), was not really assisting the bartender. You could tell he was just trying to run out the clock. He pulled out the empty/dirty glass cart into the middle of the bar area to fill the bottom tray, cutting off the bartender from the coolers and customers. I watched him empty dozens of goblets into the trash (one at a time). He would pick them up from the rim or stem. Then without washing hands or even wiping them off, hand a fresh beer bottle to the bartender by the top from the cooler and restock the cooler with more Corona. That beer bottle went to a customer.
I don't think he did this intentionally of course and he may be the coolest guy ever. I honestly do not know. She looked absolutely frustrated and could not service half the bar due to the empty/dirty glass cart that was in the way. She also looked like she didn't want to say anything or was trying to avoid a confrontation.
My advice,...
Read moreI heard about this place from a handful of people, with mixed reviews. I've eaten at roughly 20 of the BBQ places in DFW so I figured I'd give it a shot since I was in the neighborhood.
The staff was really nice, and the restaurant was really clean as far as the serving and seating area. Unfortunately I found 3 long strands of hair on my ribs but I just picked them off and ate, not that big of a deal. They were over cooked a bit and somewhat dry, but the flavor was good. The only other weird thing is that they left the membrane on the bottom so the ribs were a bit chewy, but again...not a big deal.
The brisket was pretty spot on. I had a couple pieces that were kind of dry but the seasoning was really good and 3/5 of the pieces were awesome. The fries were really good too, for $3 it's enough fries for 2-3 people easily.
The only thing I am vehemently against is the BBQ sauce they use...it gave off a weird blueberry vibe, not sure what was going on with that. It was one of the sweetest BBQ sauces I've had, even with the vinegar in it. The thickness was good though and it had a really nice color.
Overall I'd go back, but would tweak my order a bit. I'll probably do brisket and pulled pork next time...
Read moreRecently moved back home from Florida and was looking for good barbecue, after seeing how obnoxious the line and wait was at Hard 8 we decided to look elsewhere. Roscoe's came up on google with 4.2 stars but we figured let's give it a try. We were surprised to see how large the building is and thought we were going to be disappointed in our hunt for good ol' Texas Bbq however, when we came in the menu is on a large TV by the cafeteria line style food. We ordered the pick 2 meal and let me tell you the meat was tender and full of flavor. The mac and cheese is out of this world. Everything we had was incredible. The reason for 3 stars is that we had to get up and leave before being able to finish our food due to the restuarant turning into a sports bar with fans screaming and jumping out of their seat during the Longhorns vs LSU game. My son has autism and is sensitive to overly loud noises. I would've given this restaurant 5 stars had the rest of the patrons been respectful of the rest of the restaurant trying to enjoy dinner as well. Best bbq I've ever had even though I had to eat it from a to go...
