I've heard a lot of back and forth about this place, so one evening when I was feeling a little down I decided to treat myself to a nice steak dinner with all the extras. I considered this a gamble, because steak at a restaurant is almost always an enormous disappointment. I sat at the bar and was treated like visiting royalty. The steak was a perfect medium, pink and juicy, obviously prepared by someone who actually understood how to cook a steak. So, potatoes: Side potatoes are inevitably a sad afterthought to whatever tan, grainy disgrace has been labeled a steak and slapped on a plate. These were really excellent. Thoughtfully cooked and seasoned, and a great compliment to the steak. I finished it off with some kind of mint chocolate thing that was just amazing. This was an awesome meal, presented in a relaxed, classy environment by servers who were friendly but never annoying. Great experience!

Haven’t been to Halvorson’s in awhile. Dropped in. Just before brunch menu ended and lunch menu was happening on a busy Saturday with my family. We got a nice table inside by the window. My husband got the beef breakfast tacos with great cuts of meat and my daughter got the French toast which was an abundant stack with plenty of maple syrup. I enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich with a great dressing of lettuce, tomato, onion and guacamole. We loved sharing the basket of hand cut fries. Staff was attentive and we had a great time there. The ambiance is cozy and great place to stop in and lots of wonderful spaces to sit inside and on Church Street.

My wife and stopped in for a beer. We are from Oklahoma. They have locally made drafts. My wife had the Mexican Lager and I had the American. Both very good. We tried the chili and the clam chowder. Never thought to put sour cream on chili. It was surprisingly delicious. The clam chowder was tasty. For me, I would of cut the potatoes a little smaller. That goes back to my Momma saying, "You know if I love you or am mad at you by the size of your vegetables." 🥰 The service was very good. We would definitely stop in again. Probably later today after the museum.

Im not one to write a review, but my last experience gave me the urge. We were seated very quickly witch was great but things took a turn vary quickly. We sat by the window and noticed three very large filth flys on the window. our waiter arrived was very kind so I’ll give the service a four. after we ordered the table next to us got their food and the most rancid smell of fried fish filled the air. Fish was one of the items we ordered so we got a little worried (different entree). After some conversation we get our food and the third strike happened. I ordered the steak tacos and was disappointed to see the two 17 dollar, Less than appetizing tacos on a plate with no sides. the steak was not good and the corn tortillas were not satisfying either. the Salomon was not exciting, and the side salad could use some work. overall atmosphere was concerning food was sup-par and service was acceptable. I will not be...

There was really nothing about our experience that went well. First we had to wait 45 mins for a seat. That's okay, it was Black Friday. We each bought a different draft beer and all of them were flat. When we brought it to a server's attention, we were told to tell the bartender! We waited over 30 more minutes for our food. My friends hamburger was raw and the New England Clam Chowder was cold. When we asked to see the manager, she didn't apologize. She offered to comp 50% of the bill and left. The server was obviously embarrassed. When the check arrived, they'd charged us for the burger that they took away and never replaced. We will not be returning to this restaurant. It's a shame because it used to be a reliable go-to...
