Stopped in to see check this place out before leaving to return to my work location (travel for work) as I’d been in the area for a work trip.
I love local places & this one was really lukewarm for me. I was looking forward to the homemade corned beef hash as it’s one of my favorites & I love to try it when a restaurant has it on the menu! The hash wasn’t as spectacular as I was led to believe; it’s the blandest I’ve ever eaten. I asked for some Tobasco, which they didn’t have, but had packets of some sort of hot sauce (um, nahh, not quite the same). I had toast & when I asked if there was any jam (this should just be an automatic placement when bringing toast), the girl seemed annoyed & asked what flavor. Really? Ok then. I was at breakfast with a work friend & clearly told her it was separate checks & she acknowledged that, but gave us a single check where the prices & total weren’t even listed! C’mon! My coworker just said he’d pay & that she didn’t understand (he often makes excuses for others). She clearly understood & was annoyed with me asking for simple condiments, including salt & pepper which also came in packets. Tacky. If this were a pickup only restaurant then the packets of condiments would be understandable, but this is a comfy, sit-down, comfort breakfast/lunch diner type of local place.
Not terrible, but not super great either. I need flavor to my food. And decent customer service.

Read moreThe environment was very cozy with horse shoe style seating. We were ecstatic as we watched the large plates of food be served.
Throughout our entire experience we patiently waited with cheerful smiles and responses.
Basic request such as more creamer, water or our order of 2nd toast was forgotten. Our first order was actually given to the entirely wrong person..that's no big deal though. It was interesting to watch as others basic dinning experience needs were unfulfilled. One man even needed my assistance in grabbing the attention of a waitress. How can this man enjoy his coffee when his mug is empty. Glasses of water were non existent as I saw only a few people with this luxary.
The food was wholesome and the owner (Mr. Handy) was the only one in there taking care of the customers and holding down the fort.
It's unfortunate his front end employees lack excitement, engagement and customer service skills. The business could surely make immeasurable gains with...
Read moreVisiting Burlington from just outside of Philadelphia. My boyfriend and I visited Handy’s this morning and we had a great experience. The minute we walked in we were immediately greeted by the waitress and the cook. We decided to split the Big Daddy’s Breakfast dish and the cook kindly cut all the included items in half which was thoughtful. The food was so good and it was a ton for only about $10 bucks. Handy’s is a cool place that you can tell has a neighborhood following. I also enjoyed hearing the owner discuss with other patrons all the things Handy’s was involved in during the pandemic (like donating time and food/meals to working nurses during the initial Covid shut down). When my boyfriend and I inevitably visit Burlington again in the future, we will be sure to come grab a meal at...
