Read some recent reviews about sub-par service, so I wanted to write a post suggesting lunch time or slightly off hours instead of dinner. My dad and I went to the Ale House today for a late lunch (arrived around 2:00pm). There were a couple of people at the bar and maybe 2 or 3 other tables with people. The bar tender (didn't catch his name) greeted us promptly and said we could sit anywhere. He was shortly behind us with menus and to take our drink order. Menu is vast with lots of delicious sounding options - I am a pescatarian and was delighted that they were willing to swap out the chicken on one of the salads to the blackened tilapia (+$3). With recommendation from the server, my dad had a bourbon chicken sandwich. Both salad and sandwich were delicious. We also had an order of nachos, they were willing to put the chili (with meat) on the side for us - also very good. It has a little bit of a sports bar atmosphere with many TV's around but volume was quiet and we really enjoyed it. Will definitely be back and hope that maybe some of the negative reviewers will reconsider and try going back at a quieter hour for better service. Ours was attentive, drinks were refilled, food fast enough, good sense of humor and he was more than helpful and happy to go back to the kitchen and ask specific questions for us. We'll definitely...
Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN OR HAVE A PICKY EATER IN YOUR PARTY!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AN ISSUE AT THIS PLACE!!! Took the wife and my two children to this place, and was excited about taking advantage of their wing special. My food was good, however, my children's food was not to their liking because of the seasoning/salt that was placed on the food. We ask the server to take their food off our ticket because we were going to pick something up on our way home from them. He then gave a wife a very "rude" look and ask, "What is wrong?". My wife explained...then we just walked off, saying nothing. 10 minutes later when the check was placed on our table, our children's food items were still on the ticket....Saying nothing again, the server walk off. Money was not an issue for us, because we paid for the complete ticket...(I didn't feel like arguing...just wanted to get home). However, I did let the general manager know about the situation after paying...and he said that when a customer orders "you are creating a verbal contract to pay for that item even if you do...
Read moreDuring my family's visit, we had an overall great visit that involved delicious food and beer with a great variety of brews and choices available. It was rustic as such with a normal tavern yet very accommodating with orders. For example, I ordered my food differently than listed on the menu and it was prepared as such. This is something I appreciated very much.
The reason I rate this restaurant a three is because I would find repeat visits slightly questionable due to certain issues. I didn't appreciate that there were items on the menu (such as an Italian ice) that came as part of a meal that wasn't available and no effort given to correct the mistake. Although the waitresses were very polite, my entire party of five had a difficult time keeping up with whom our waiter or waitress was. When the issue was brought forth, the waitress said it "wasn't her problem".
I enjoyed my experience mostly but a lack of communication and, apparently, children's deserts as well as compensation for such is why I give a final...
