I don’t know what secret, special ingredient Garrity and Braydon put in their ice cream, but it is PHENOMENAL. I mean I know they put a lot of love in it, but there’s gotta be something else too.
Not only is there some kind of secret magic in their recipe- they also have INCREDIBLE creative minds and come up with the most beautiful flavor combos. Hot honey corn bread ICE CREAM!? Would I have ever thought of that? No. Do I immediately know I’m gonna love it? YES! My favorite that I’ve tried to date has been a coffee Ice cream with Oreos in it. Just the right amount of coffee and they don’t skimp on the Oreos at all. They have the coolest names for their ice creams to keep up with the theme- but they don’t even hold it against me when I can’t remember the names 😂❤️
They’ve been steadily coming out with new flavors since the last time I’ve visited and I can’t wait to try them all. Dear Garrity, PLEASE start shipping 🙏🏻

Read moreBlack Dog Creamery is AMAZING! Hands down the best ice cream around - whether it’s at their new storefront or from their trailer at our local festivals. Our kids love that all the flavors are named after rock songs—it makes choosing one so much fun (especially when I play them the song afterwards). And the ice cream is seriously delicious. You can tell they use quality ingredients, and the mix-ins are unreal. The cake pieces, for example, actually stay soft and moist instead of turning into frozen rocks like you get at other places. Yum!
What really makes Black Dog stand out though is the family who runs it. They’re so friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they really care about the community. It feels less like a business and more like visiting a neighbor who happens to make ridiculously good ice cream.
If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out—this is the kind of local spot we need more of...
Read moreButte has always been home to businesses that stand the test of time — Pork Chop John’s, the M&M, the Derby, and so many more. I have a feeling Black Dog Creamery is well on its way to joining that list of hometown favorites. The ice cream speaks for itself, but what really sets this place apart is the people behind it. The staff and owners are as welcoming and wholesome as they come, and you can feel the love and care in everything they do.
I’m so glad I stopped by, and I know I’ll be back again and again. If you ever get the chance, make the trip — this is ice cream worth traveling for. Keep up the great work, Black...
