Dickey's Barbecue Pit — Restaurant in Butte

I am updating a previous review I've made of this establishment. My experience in the restaurant was that I was told the amount, and then I tapped my credit card to pay. When the receipt printed, it was a couple of bucks more than what I had been told. I inquired as to why it was more, and was told that I must have hit a tip amount. I was not happy about this, because all I did was tap my card, I didn't touch the screen. She asked if I wanted the amount refunded, and I said yes. She processed the refund back to my card, and it has now posted. I also wrote a review to warn others about this auto tip. The franchise owners contacted me by email and wanted to know more about what happened, so I told them. They said they were going to do some testing and see if this happened in their testing. A few days passed, and they let me know that they had not had an auto tip occur in their testing, and that they were monitoring credit card transactions to see if auto tipping was occurring.

The owner has been honest with me. He has been quick to respond when I've asked questions. He didn't blame me for the issues, and has been trying to see if what I experienced was a fluke or something normal. So far, it appears to be a fluke. But I share all of this to say that they're doing all they can to ensure the auto tip isn't happening, and if they discover that it is, he assured me they would be having very a stern conversation with corporate.

I had lunch here last Saturday. This was my first time eating here. You order at the counter, service was friendly, polite and answered questions I had about the menu. I ordered the brisket burnt ends platter which comes with 2 sides, I went with beans and coleslaw and threw on an additional side of potato salad - those are the 3 I use to judge a BBQ place. By the time I filled my drink cup and had got some BBQ sauce and other things from the self serve area my food was at my table - it was quick! Presentation was good with food being on a tray, meat, sides, a little warm roll, and sliced white onion and pickles. The burnt ends were on point - tender, moist, nice black bark and a decent portion. The sides were just ok, very average potato salad and coleslaw and the beans were the biggest disappointment - I have had better out of a can. They were all edible- just very so so.They have a huge offering of side dishes so maybe I just picked the wrong ones. The side dishes are what made me give a 4 out of 5 star review. Horrible customer service and they steal your food but still charge you for it. Somehow they "lost" half my order when delivering my order. The driver went to the wrong house and when he called me was very rude to me for not being at the address he wrongly went too. Then when he got to my house half my order was missing. When I called the restaurant they acted like I was dumb and like I was lying about my order missing items. Then said there wasn't anyone available to bring me the rest of my order. They kept insisting my order was given to the driver but also kept saying they couldn't get a hold of the driver oddly after he dropped off my order. Due to them being so late because they delivered to the wrong house, the 1 and only meat plate that actually showed up was so cold and gross and inedible. We ended up having peanut butter sandwiches due to how late it was. We still got charged for the whole ordered. Stay away from this restaurant and spend your money...
