On our way back home from the city, nstead of going to our regular Denny's at the Magic Mountain exit off the 5 just about 4 miles further up the 5, we stopped in this one for a late night bite at 10:30 on Wednesday, Oct. 8. About....5 tables with scattered peeps at that time. Not busy at all. Absolutely piss-poor experience. We ordered coffee for my wife and lemonade for me. My lemonade arrived. After a solid 10 minutes my wife got up and tracked down the waitress, Kayla, who it turns out FORGOT the coffee order. Strike one. My wife wasn't that hungry and ordered a toasted English Muffin with butter. I ordered the new holiday turkey sandwich with cheddar cheese instead of Swiss. The food arrives.
We called the waitress, Kayla. She took the English muffin back for actual "toasting." But the more I looked at my sandwich, the more it aggravated us at the sheer incompetency of the situation. We thought for a long minute and my wife said "Too many mistakes. Especially since they're NOT in the weeds!" And she was right. No logical reason whatsoever, other than incompetency and/or lack of caring that this SIMPLE order was screwed up SO many ways at once. SIMPLE orders....and the cook/waitress/whomever...makes 4 MAJOR mistakes on one simple order? We called the waitress over and I asked for a bill for the coffee and lemonade (which we did not actually expect to GET, given the situation), and we would not be eating this mess. We stood up. We were close to the kitchen. The English muffin was in the cook's pass-through for PICK-UP...and it was STILL NOT TOASTED! Kayla went to the manager, and when both saw me waiting by the table, standing, hid behind the tall service area wall near the kitchen. A rather L O N G discussion, during which the manager, Yoseli Gomez, kept "peeking" out from behind the service station wall at us. We walked to the front counter to pay $4.05 for 1 lemonade I DIDN'T drink and 1 coffee my wife DIDN'T drink. Yoseli Gomez, the on-duty "manager??" didn't even APOLOGIZE...but instead came to the front counter AND CHARGED US FOR THE COFFEE AND LEMONADE WHICH WE DID NOT DRINK. STRIKE...........THREE. THIS, ladies and gentlemen, is obviously Yoseli Gomez's idea of "CUSTOMER SERVICE." There is no WAY we should have paid for those 2 beverages, given the abominable service and incompetent handling of the food order. But Ms. Gomez did EXACTLY that. Charged us at the front counter AND DID NOT APOLOGIZE for her crew's incompetency. I WILL be calling Denny's head office in the morning to relay the particulars...and see if they agree with the way their "MANAGER" handled...
Read moreMissing items, currently in hotel due to car troubles so no car to drive, order deliver I order the make your own they forgot the bread in all 4 plates , they did not put syrup for the other 3 plate pancakes, no utencils at all so we all had to eat with our hands. I called and they tell me do you want to come in to pick it up. I'm like mam the reason we order delivery is due to we don't have a car, how am I going to pick up? , Then she tells me there is nothing they can do but give a credit so I ask how much would the credit be for , she responce the credit will be for the items you are missing , so not for their mistake I have to make another other so I can call her and make sure they send with a new order the items they where missing today. So I ask how I'm I suppose to eat my pancakes? She letarly said I don't know but tomorrow I'll make sure you have the items you are missing from today. So we had to eat pancakes with no syrup, all our food with our hands and I have to make a whole new order to get what I already paid. I was expecting to eat nice for $100 for 6 people in eggs , hash browns ,bacon ,toast ( that was not there ) and some pancakes with syrup that was not there , earring with our hands like street people cause there was no utencils to eat. Why do delivery them if they are not putting attention to what they are sending? One of my kids did not eat at all , he has autism and what he orders is what he expects to get , now he is mad , crying ,having a huge episode due to no english muffins ,( those who has kids with autism will understand my frustration) now I have to order again but will make sure is from somewhere else and will have to call before hand so this don't happens again , my husband has not eat as well due to no syrup he will be going walking to a gas station hopefully there is syrup to buy 😹. This is rediculous , cold microwave breakfast is what he will have to eat. For sure will not order tomorrow another $100 for breakfast so how she said it ... So she can make sure she will add utencils, syrup and the 2 english muffins and the goat they own me , hey keep them I guess you need it more than us. Rediculous, I'm so mad , and I am 100% sure there was other options like just refund me a part of it so I can make sure my family gets what they wanted...
Read moreIt's my theory that everyone has a "Denny's period" of their lives...I've had several and whereas I feel past the point where I'd go here on a regular basis, every now and then, why not. So me and the fam headed here for a quick and easy breakfast and the experience was, indeed, "okay."
The coffee was "okay." My favorite part about this was the phrase "It's Fry-O'clock Somewhere" printed on the mug. I mean if the coffee's going to be just okay, might as well give me something entertaining to read on the mug.
The food was slightly less then okay, but only slightly. I had an omelet with swiss cheese and spinach, along with hashbrowns and an English muffin. The egg whites were a little overcooked and the swiss was not quite melted/cooked enough. The hashbrowns were definitely undercooked.
My kid had a Beyond Burger and fries. They got it right and if you're a food-delivery app person and see "Burger Den" as an option...that comes from your local Denny's under this brand.
My wife ordered eggs with tomatoes and spinach...it looked a little better than my eggs and she was smart enough to order her hashbrowns "crispy" so they also were, at the very least, cooked enough. Also, on the plus side they had a gluten-free english muffin option for here at no up-charge. That's pretty rare, so thanks Denny's for that!
They took a long time to bring us our food too. When we were seated the restaurant was packed, and by the time they finally brought the food, it was mostly empty. I think the egg whites may have thrown them off. Not the end of the world, but an acknowledgement from our server would have been nice.
Look, it's Denny's. I've had many good experiences in Denny's during high school and college with my friends. I'm never going to write them off...They do an okay job serving basic diner foods at all the possible hours. They're there for...
