Today I was asked by friends to go work out at their gym, LA Fitness-Stevenson Ranch. Even though I currently belong to Golds Gym-Valencia , I was interested in The LA Fitness-Stevenson Ranch because it is closer to my home and I thought would be more convenient. I was so disappointed with my visit it reaffirmed to me that I will be keeping my membership with Golds Gym. Upon walking in I was greeted by the girl at the front desk but she didn't sound happy to be there. She directed me to one of the salesmen who gave me the general run down of the place and also said welcome. So I went to the locker room, changed out, and walked to the free weight area. Not many people present on a Saturday at 1:30 in the afternoon which was nice. And then the poor experience started. Dumb bells! Oh there are plenty of them but you have to hunt for them because if they aren't just lying around on the floor somewhere then they are probably on the racks but not even close to where they should be. The rack is simply identified with the weight that should go in the specific spot but apparently nobody cares enough to put them in the appropriate spot. So you spend a couple minutes finding what you need and when finished you spend a couple minutes moving weights around so that you can put your weights in the appropriate spot. Seems simple and maybe petty, but I came to work out not clean house. Lots of free weights too! Just look around on the floor and you will see plenty because apparently clients don't have to put them away either. I guess the best way to describe it is like this, you work out at a station and when you are finished you just walk away. You don't put ANYTHING back to it's original location so that the next person can use it. Empty water bottles lying around and nobody claiming ownership. It was like I was in some teenagers room that had weights in it. Not once did I see an employee walking around. I didn't need one but, visual presence makes a big difference. This gym has the ability to be very successful but, just opening the door and then cleaning up the mess at closing time will cause you to lose customers rather than gain them. I can tell you this, when I walk into my gym I am greeted by an energetic employee that sounds like they are happy I came in. There is always an employee or more walking around maintaining the gym, offering assistance, picking up weights, trash or whatever. Simple things but significant impact. Thank you for allowing me to visit your gym, use your weights and share...
Read moreI would agree with some of the previous comments. I went to the gym today to look for a jump rope I lost and one of the employees followed me around the gym. Just to be sure I stopped when I thought I was being followed. I would not recommend coming to this gym if you are a person of color or enjoy working on in s clean space. The staff will follow you around the gym. I’ve left review for pre ious LA fitness locations. LA fitness is no longer concerned for your safely or keeping the space clean. I make sure to show common courtesy and pickup trash at each location. So far my experience with multiple LA fitness locations has not been great and declined over time. I’m pretty sure they don’t like the fact that I leave reviews. This is the culture that LA fitness has created. Be careful when leaving a review if your a google reviewer leaving reviews at multiple locations. They will red flag you and make you s target. They don’t like when people leaves reviews at certain locations. I’ll keep posting reviews for LA fitness. Please follow me and subscribe to my page. Thank you again for reading my review. As mentioned in a previous comment from another google reviewer, yes there are flocks of children in the gym. Females are left to close the gym in multiple La fitness locations and staff no longer returns weights at the end of the day. Gym goers have also adapted the culture of trash on the floor in the gym. There is plenty of trash outside in the parking lot. The gym is no longer a clean place to workout. I hope this reviews helps someone else out...
Read moreFirst time doing a fitness assessment at LA Fitness Brittney was amazing would recommend her. Sadly they do not allow her to do personal training even though she does the initial first time training with you , which is a bummer if they would have allowed her to continue to be my trainer for the rest of the sessions I would have totally signed up for personal training. They do not have female trainers. I would also recommend for that to change. Manager mentioned near locations have female trainers but as my home gym I would prefer to be at the same location instead of having to go elsewhere to get the service. In that case I would just make the other location my gym. I feel like the assessment as it was done with her and you build some what of a relationship the option to choose her as your trainer should be given. Not sign up with a random trainer who you don’t even know and does not know your goals. I’d basically have to go over everything all over again which makes no sense. Over all 5 stars for Brittney. Thank you for making my first time at the gym in a long time welcoming and motivating! PS if they change the rules ad allow you to be a personal trainer let us know I would not...
