Panda Express — Restaurant in California

Edit: Knocked off two stars. First one was because they changed up the order pickup and created a great deal of confusion with people thinking they had to wait in line to get their online orders when in fact they call your name. No masks on anyone waiting. Second star dropped is they actually doubled many of the prices once the county reopened. They're now the most expensive chinese restaurant in town. Back to Fortunat Garden!

Well, I saw some bad reviews here and on yelp, but wanting some chinese and not many places offering take out in my area, I figured I'd give them a shot, especially for their $20 family meal deal, which is a spectacular bargain. Other reviewers said the food was bland or dried out or they received very little. When I went in to get my online order (love touchless transactions during the CV!) their steam trays were full of fresh looking food. My order was 100% correct (while every other fast food place I've been to lately screwed my order up...looking at you mcdonalds, taco bell and jack in the box), it was ready ahead of time, and while I've only eaten a few of the items (dynamite shrimp and the greens side dish), I found them fresh, delicious and I'm looking forward to a few more easy meals in the next few days. My guess is the bad reviews came from getting to the restaurant in between lunch and dinner hours or not long before closing. No, no outfit like this is going to make $300 worth of food at 8:00 at night or 3 in the afternoon. Its not cooked to order.

I haven't eaten at Panda in a while, as there weren't any nearby. This one is new and close by. In case anyone is wondering about the sizes, I got 5 large and one small. The small is very small, about the size of a baseball. The large is enough to fill a normal person. A small and a little side like rice or noodles would also make a good meal.

I'll definitely go back, especially while I can buy about an 8lb sack of food for $20. They're next to mechanics bank and have an entry both in front on the main road and also around behind. They don't show up yet on google street view (restaurant was an empty storefront in the one as of this writing), so if you want to avoid the nutty parking/drivers on town center drive, you can take a right at mechanics bank, a left into the parking lot behind and there is plenty of unused parking back there. They're very conservative in the time your order will be ready when ordered online, probably haven't adjusted their traffic calculations to the covid lack of customers yet. This is the third time in a row at three different Panda locations where there was no food when I walked in the door. What the hell! How do you sell food if you don’t have it! People don’t come into a fast food restaurant to have to wait 10 or 15 minutes for the food that should’ve been ready when we walked in the door. Used to be you come to a panda you could choose whatever you want and get your food in a reasonable amount of time. What the hell’s going on are you not staffing to save money at the expense of customer service! the time before this the employees were all just sitting around chitchatting, and there was no food in the bowls. We ended up walking out and getting food somewhere else as well as the person who followed us in! Get it together, panda you are no longer my favorite food place. Chipotle is now my favorite. Please get your act together so I can start eating at Panda again. I am not going to eat at a place that doesn’t seem interested in serving us at the level you used to serve us. I ordered food it said it would be ready at 5:25 I get a text at 5:15 it’s ready so it was way earlier than it was supposed to be. I get there can’t find any parking so I parked far away and walked in. There was a large line of people ordering food. I stand there and see my order ready at the to go order (not heated) and politely asked if I can just grab my order. The cashier rudely says “NO YOU CANNOT” so I wait. Then instead of helping me she starts packing up food so I politely asked again if I can get the order I already paid for. She again gave me attitude and said no. She finally got to me and wanted to see my order. I am pulling up my order and say it’s the one that’s ready. She rudely says I need to see your order and name. I show her again. She then starts opening the bag I told her that isn’t necessary and she then asked me to show her the order again and I said no and grabbed my food out of her hands and left.
