Ruben's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in California

Finally decided to come and try this place out since it is only a few blocks from me. Well I should have made the drive out farther to another part of town like east or south west to eat. The food I'd have to say had very little to no flavor. Had the brunch so was able to taste a little of all their major plates that they would serve and all was a disappointment and for this place being a Mexican restaurant it really didn't taste like it. Menudo tasteless, and that's what I really was hoping was good cuz it is menudo Sunday and all. So I strolled over to their dessert small plate..cut up doughnuts, are you kidding me??? Smh. Wait they did have some stale hard churros probably a day old, i should know because ive bought some else where and ate some the next day and thats exactly what they tasted like. No actual home made desserts, at least go out and get mexican pan dulce and serve that instead of the doughnuts if they were gonna stay with store bought. The beer wasnt really cold as it should be, compared to every other place. And yes I've seen the good reviews posted on here from others, but they probably only been to this restaurant here in town for Mexican food or don't want to take an extra 10-15 min drive else where for a tastier meal. I hate to write these reviews but if I'm going to pay for a meal at a restaurant at least make it with the same passion you had when you decided you wanted to open a restaurant. Hope this can help others when choosing a place to eat, and I'm not saying don't ever go here I'm just pointing out my experience food wise. The staff was...

Great food. Great waiters. Have always been a great place to go at the end of the day for happy hour. Then in the bar a juke box was installed and the music is now blaring to the point it is offensive. When brought up to the manager to turn it down, I was told that a customer at the bar payed for it; therefore, they have to keep it. This happened around 3:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday. As a young adult myself who enjoys a good party, on a Sunday afternoon this is completely irresponsible and bad business for anyone to blast rap music throughout the restaurant at such an early hour. One of the largest groups of customers are families and elderly people who enjoy a regular hang out and to suddenly change this to pander to a couple of drunks is how to lose these customers. The group at the bar also began to make comments and glare at my family as we tried enjoying a nice Sunday early dinner. The waiters are amazing and friendly and have always been a great pleasure to be around, the manager told us we weren't getting our way rather than just simply turning down the music (we didn't mind music playing, just the volume). Ordered the fish plate (don't remember name but it was the one that came w/guacamole)which I did not get cause according to waiter my dish didnt come with guacamole! But it did because that is THE reason I ordered it! Fish was over fried. The so called salad was the amount the size of the inside of my palm with ranch! When he finally brought my guac it was a very small amount and the avocado tasted all ready past its time. Next I asked for a additional fork and waiter said, "you have one there" but after him looking at me with the look as if, "are you serious" he said upset, "I'll get you another one." Waiter avoided our table he only came by once to check on us to see how we were doing and only cause I waved him to come. The place is way too dark. Never going to...
