Kafe Royale Restaurant — Restaurant in Calimesa

We just had a strange experience here. We have been eating here almost every weekend for years. This morning our waitress got a couple of orders wrong. No big deal, they're busy and everybody makes mistakes. When it was calmly brought to her attention, she was rude and aggressive, telling me I was wrong and that's what I ordered. It absolutely was not what I ordered. She corrected it with an attitude. We quickly moved past it. Everyone has bad days, not a big deal. After paying (and tipping generously) I stepped outside. Friends came out and informed me that the owner came out and chastised my wife for being rude,which was far from the truth. The waitress turned everything around and complained about us! I was shocked and offended as were the rest of our party of 8. We have never had an experience like this, here or anywhere else. I actually respect him backing his employees. In this case it was based on a complete fabrication of what happened. The rest of the staff has always been great. Unfortunately when asked the owner about it he was also rude. We will never be back! We are completely perplexed by this mornings events. Even other staff were not supportive of their behavior. I sincerely hope, for their sake, this is an isolated incident. Can't rate anything this visit. Our favorite place but today we were more than disappointed. Closes at 2pm. We wanted to get there earlier like we always do but life made that impossible. We got there at 1:25. Three ladies working said we are closed and the kitchen is closed . I thought they were joking. They said since it was "slow" they closed early. I wonder what time they started telling people that today since it was a Saturday. Maybe the closing time should be moved to 1pm if this is the usual customer flow. The ladies were laughing and one made a violin playing movement like tuff poop. We went to another nearby restaurant; The Haus Bistro. It was great and my wife is pretty mad and said we won't be going back to Kafe Royale for awhile. Restaurant business is tough and losing customers is obviously bad. i ate at this place a few days ago and my bill came out to $26. this business charged my card $526. when i called they said the reason for the charge is because i did not tip so they did it themselves. i don’t think it was professional to charge that much on someone’s card without there knowledge and it’s not stated anywhere that i have to leave a tip. when i asked for HR number they said they didn’t have one because it’s a family business and when i said i will take legal action they started saying “no no no i will fix it” do not eat here unless you want to...
