3.75 stars based on only 1 visit, so please take my review with a grain of salt ...

Arrived about 15 minutes after the Bakery opened and they were already packed with customers. No indoor table seating when I visited due to CA covid restrictions, but the tables outside were empty.

I'm a carboholic, and their beautiful looking breads and pastries made my mouth water. Thankfully the line moved quickly because the counter staff worked their tails off. I ordered a Breakfast Sandwich, excellent coffee, and a mix of croissants that were crunchy and extremely well made. So why only 3.75 stars?

It took almost 15 minutes to get my hot sandwich (hey, I said they were very busy, so no worries! 🙂), but it was microwaved waaayyy too long. Long enough that even after carrying it out in a wrapper and paper bag for 2 blocks to find a quiet streetside table in downtown, it was scalding; the cheese liquified into the English Muffin AND the wrapping paper; and the sandwich was an unsightly, soggy mess. As a result it was less appealing than an Egg McMuffin for 3x the price. Big disappointment.

Hopefully I just caught an infrequent misstep, because everything else was delicious, their counter goods are beautiful and fairly priced, and their staff works really hard. When I return to Calistoga I'll surely try them again, because every small, local Bakery deserves a 2nd chance to make a great first impression --especially...

As perfect as a small town, no frills local type bakery can be. And I mean that in a great way! Getting into this place at 6:30 in the morning on a Saturday, it became very quickly that this was the quick breakfast place of choice for lots of locals. The kind of place where you walk in and they know your name and your order. Breakfast burrito was out of this world. Featuring chorizo, potatoes, eggs, and tomatillo salsa as one of the options, it was as big as my hand, wrapped tight, and weighed about 2 pounds. it’s something really different. I also had the cornbread which they said sold out daily in about an hour or two. Never thought cornbread could taste fresh like fresh corn, but this stuff sure does. Super moist, thick, actual corn pieces in it, and not overly grain like as many cornbread are. Coffee was perfect and we even met some new friends who were candle vendors at the local...

VISIT THIS BAKERY! Story time: I was headed to Calistoga with friends to celebrate my husband's birthday. Called ahead to see if they made his favorite pie, as it wasn't on their menu. The owner himself called back to arrange all the details, and said he would personally get certain ingredients to make sure they were fresh. The day rolls around, and I completely forget about the pickup. The baker reached out, but by the time I see it, I know they've been closed for an hour and aren't open the next day. I called the owner back, and he told me to come meet him at the bakery -- he took time out of his day to personally open the place back up after hours so that I could get the pie. I've never been so embarrassed and so grateful at once! He really went above and beyond, and on top of it all, it was the best banana cream pie my husband had...

I have only been here once while visiting Calistoga, but I wanted to leave a review because I noticed most of the other reviews are about the pastries. I want to put a plug in for their lunch options - my friend and I were super hungry after wine tastings, and needed lunch at almost 2pm. We stopped in Bella for coffee and were excited to see that they have hot pizza slices, quiche, and meat turnovers. The turnover was excellent - buttery and savory with meat, potatoes, and carrots. The pizza was a little gluey but very tasty and satisfying, and my friend really liked her bread pudding and massive slice of quiche. The coffee was also decent. If you need a quick lunch in a pinch in Calistoga, definitely give it a try!

I'm first time in Calistoga and liked this place a lot. I had veggie quiche, tea and an eclair. Quiche was very good, not salty (it's my common complaint usually), veggies are nicely combined and cooked. Tea was fine. And speaking of an eclair... it's absolutely amazing! I'm a European and had lots of eclairs in my life. This one was just one of the best. Dark chocolate on the top is not mushy glazing, but nice chocolate covered, the filling is very delicate and delicious. The cream is not too heavy, really smooth and not sweet as many bakers have them. The pastry was the way it supposed to be. Great job! Just keep in mind: the size is really big. Two persons may be full with just one eclair. Thanx! Will come back.
