Ended up at Lombardi’s after a sudden change of dinner plans. Really wasn’t expecting much but this place was a solid all around restaurant on Cambria Main Street. We got the spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs and the Cambria’s Favorite pizza. The spaghetti was savory and flavorful. The meatball was rich and moist. I was expecting 2 or 3 meatballs, but there was only one, which was fine because there was a lot of meat in the sauce. The pizza was great, nothing like a New York slice, but the crust was crispy, there was a cheese pull even after driving 20 minutes with it back to our accommodations, the onion was tender and just the right sizes, and the sausage was insanely flavorful. It reminded me of the classic mom and pop pizzerias in New Haven, which is a huge compliment. The woman working the front was super friendly and welcoming and provided efficient service. When visiting new towns, I always take into account how restaurant staff treats diners. She immediately put me and my mom at ease and I knew we were in for a good meal. Nothing crazy, but nothing bad....
Read moreCame here while staying in San Simeon for the night (visiting Hearst Castle). Just wanted to pick up a pizza and maybe a few sides to take back to the Hotel room for dinner. I stood waiting for 20 minutes while the waitress ignored me and the hostess just shrugged her shoulders at me helplessly, indicating that I'd have to wait for the waitress to take my to go order (although I have no idea why). Finally the hostess took pity on me (and my wife and young daughter who were both sitting waiting patiently to be helped) and took my simple order. While we sat waiting, the waitress rather rudely forced us out of our seats in order to seat some other customers.
When we finally got back to the hotel room, the pizza tasted disgusting, the side of meatballs tasted like they had been washed in the mop bucket of a high-school custodian and the sausage tasted like it was excavated from the build site of Hearst Castle itself.
The next day, my wife was sick to her stomach. Stay away from this restaurant because they either do not like tourists, Hispanics, or just...
Read moreFirst thing we noticed....this is not an Italian family restaurant..maybe an Latin American "Italian" restaurant but not Italian. Anyway we ordered a sausage meat and pepperoni pizza and 2 salads for my wife and daughter. The pizza was clearly not freshly made..my guess would be a frozen base and ingredients thrown on top and heated up. Then there were the salads. My wife and daughter ordered one each with a "creamy Italian dressing"..which they forgot...so having told them we waited a few minutes and the waiter brought some kind of strange tasting thick sauce...not a dressing. Then while eating our daughter found a piece of plastic in her salad. The waitress took it away and brought a very strange tasting " mint and strawberry" ice cream..as compensation for the salad...we didn't ask for it.. The whole experience was bizarre!! I wouldnt waste your money here...there are plenty of other restaurants...
