First, I have been coming here frequently since the day they opened in Harvard Square. My partner and I have been here so many times that several of the staff recognize us and know our regular order, a chimichanga with carnitas.
Unfortunately, the chimichanga falls outside of their otherwise impressively efficient assembly line process, meaning we occasionally end up with someone else’s order. In the past, this was quick and painless to resolve. No longer…
Last week, we ordered the usual, picked it up, and drove home. Upon cutting the chimichanga in half to split it, we immediately knew that we were given the wrong order. What was supposed to be carnitas, cheese, rice, and refried beans was instead something-chicken, black beans, sour cream, jalapeno, and Pico de Gallo (problematic because it has cilantro, to which I am extremely sensitive and the smallest bit ruins an entire meal)
Having paid for something I literally could not eat, I called to ask for a refund. The first person picks up and says they can remake it. I politely decline and repeat I would prefer a refund, saying it is already late, we are hungry, and we will just figure out something at home instead of having to make the round-trip drive before being able to eat. He seems confused by this request and asks me to hold while he gets the manager.
The manager then gets on the phone and proceeds to drill me on what, exactly, was wrong with my order. He then asks if I can send him pictures of the food. When I respond voicing frustration, he asks for my phone number and says he will call me back. Just in case, I take some photos of the partially deconstructed chimichanga after a failed attempt to salvage anything palatable. A few minutes later, I miss his call since I am in the kitchen focused on making something else for dinner.
I then forgot about the whole ordeal until checking my voicemail just now – another request to send a photo.
Dear management: here is your picture of Chimichanga innards clearly showing it did not match my order. I hope your fight for an $11 refund was worth this review, as well as the loss of regular patrons who had been frequent referrers of business (including for catering of several...
Read moreAs of this day a few minutes ago, I had to go to the bathroom really bad, after ordering food for my sister and I. When I walked over to the restroom. I was shocked to find a woman cleaning the restroom. Obviously I wasn’t gonna use it because a WOMAN was in the men’s restroom so I went outside back towards the dumpsters and used a drain to urinate, no people in sight away from everything. The manager, tall black gentleman walked over to me and kicked me out of the establishment as if I committed some sort of crime. I’m a man, just a hard working man trying to get my sister some food after a hard day of work. I do not wish the gentlemen any ill will or anything like that, but I felt very embarrassed and very disrespected and I thought it was ridiculous to treat me as if I was some animal committing a crime or something like that. I was NO TRESPASSED from the establishment for something as simple as that. Again I would’ve simply use the restroom if a woman wasn’t inside there. What was I supposed to do? I think it’s ridiculous. I was in the middle of eating a meal will my sister and the manager NO TRESPASSED me, in the middle of eating in front of all those people. Shameful and just downright rude, quite frankly it’s unbelievable. I do NOT drink alcohol, I am a Christian. I know I am a sinner and all, but we all fall short of the Glory. This was a really depressing situation. Obviously I will not be allow to eat there again, but that is ok. I just I am embarrassed and depressed about the situation. Sometimes a man get can’t catch a damn break. Well, since I am a Christian I will said may God bless the manager who TRESPASSED me. I pray God blesses him and his family with a long healthy life. In...
Read moreOrdered delivery from Felipe’s last night as part of a group order with some friends.
I ordered the “Felipe’s Guacamole Special” (tortilla chips, guac, salsa fresca, and queso dip). Upon arriving, they did not include the tortilla chips in the order. At all. Friends and I thought it was no biggie, as we would be able to get refunded for the portion that was not included in the order.
When we tried to get a refund for my portion of the order, we were met with, “Thank you for your feedback! We are unable to offer you a refund for the Felipe’s special” from the restaurant.
What kind of restaurant makes the customer pay for an order that was never received 😂
Buyer beware. Incredibly unprofessional, Felipe’s.
UPDATE: I’ve called back 2 times now to try and contact a manager, Felipe’s has not yet let me speak with a manager about the issue. They are asking for Photo Evidence, even though the website that we ordered from didn’t specify nor require any sort of photo evidence if there was an issue with the order. Still waiting on a call back from the manager..
FINAL UPDATE: I am updating my review to 3 stars, only because of Deb from Customer Service. She was very helpful in communicating with the restaurant and get my $9 refund for the “Felipe’s Guac Special”. Thanks Deb! However, I am still skeptical of ordering from Felipe’s in the future, based on what I went through trying to get refunded $9 for food that...
