Well it was ok for what you pay. My wife REALLY liked it. Although I think more on principle of supporting a small business than actual taste. I on the other hand was not really impressed with the food. The service is absolutely WONDERFUL though. But that's pretty normal with a small town cafe.

So I got pancakes (which are seriously the size of a dinner plate and DELICIOUS) hash browns (which were so oily they were basically mush) bacon (which was good) and scrambled eggs (which were also extremely oily but still good) AND a large glass of orange juice which good to me because it was pulp free and pulp is the bayne of my existence.

The syrup is NOT good although if pressed I would say it was REAL maple syrup although not a particularly good maple syrup. Which again is nice in theory... But is too bad for the pancakes which are actually really good buttermilk pancakes.

The hash browns were the most disappointing for me. As mentioned they were so oily and greasy that they were mush. And being I love hash browns... I was looking forward to them. The serving size awesome. Half a plate worth of hash browns is definitely my size. But I didn't finish them because they were so oily.

On to the cinnamon roll. Oddly enough I absolutely loved it and my wife said it was only ok. So I don't know... I would personally recommended it. The cinnamon roll that is.

Will I go here again...? Probably against my will because I love my wife. But if it's just for me... I'll just go to perkins or McDonald's where the syrup is good. And edible hash browns.

update I updated to 4 stars from 3 because I realized I may be a little more nit picky than most. I do recommend this place for a good breakfast at...

I used to love this place! The people are nice but the food has gone down hill. I had a pattymelt and the burger was about 1/4" thick, cooked to over done, dry, and black. They burned my onion rings black and brought them to me like that. I had them make me new ones. My Dad had the 6oz. Sirloin steak on bread. It was over cooked, stiff, and hard to eat. He saved it for the dog later and the dog could not even chew it either. The home made fries are no good anymore. They are big like JoJos now. They are not the good thin hand cut ones anymore. My Husband and Mom had the roast beef, stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy. They got over cooked shredded roast beef and fat chunks. Stuffing with so much sage you couldn't eat it. Watery mashed potatoes, but the gravy was good. We have been going here for years over 25+ years stopping there on the way home or way to cabin. We will not go back again! They are not...

Been a few years since I've been here. I like to support local business so decided to have breakfast here.Food was good last time we visited. We came in, they were busy, but not slammed. After 10 minutes of no acknowledgement I grabbed menus from a bin on the wall. I was admonished by a waitress for doing so. Then had to wait another 10 minutes to get drinks and table setting. Another 5 minutes and they took our order. They were not that busy and there were three waitresses so really no excuse for the delay. The place isn't that big. All the staff seemed to be having a bad day. No smiles, slow to fill water and tea.

Food when it finally came was as good as I remembered, but doubt I'll be back. I generally write favorable reviews, but I just got a vibe that I was more bother than I was worth. No problem, there are other breakfast and lunch places in town that serve good food and seem to actually want...

We had a nice breakfast experience at People's Cafe. You could tell this is a very popular place in Cambridge as locals packed the place while we were there. Had side orders of toast, ham and cheesy hash browns with coffee which satisfied my appetite. My guest had an omelette with hash browns which she said was tasty and the portion was almost too large to eat. Service from our waitress was fantastic and kept the coffee topped off while there. A little tough finding a parking spot but eventually drove around the block and found one opened up right in front of the building. They have both on street parking along with a small private lot in the back with access to the restaurant. If you are in the Cambridge area and looking for a real homestyle breakfast or lunch I highly recommend stopping by People's Cafe.

Best lutefisk dinner that I have ever had (sorry Grandmas Herland & Miles but you would have loved it too)…Lutefisk, boiled potatoes, rutabaga, clarified butter, white gravy, coleslaw (mayo based), Lefse, julekaga, butter, cranberry orange relish. Then went on to banana crème pie- nice real banana chunks, homemade (not package) pudding base, pressed but not full crumble crust. Beautiful texture, too cold and could have used more vanilla flavor in the fresh cream whip. Coffee was a disappointment, but could suffer it. Restaurant itself was crowded with lots of second generation or so Scandinavians enjoying the Monday lutefisk dinner special. Restaurant was a bit unkept as a result but understandable.

Small town cafe experience at its best. A friendly vibe as you walk in. It was seat yourself for breakfast. It was a little busy but we didn't wait for too long. Staff was quick and efficient cleaning tables. Staff did not appear to be rushing. I had the #6. Half order of biscuits and gravy with two eggs/hash browns. More than generous portions. My wife had the Country omelet which she thoroughly enjoyed. She especially liked the Rye toast. Our server Ellen, was wonderful. She was very attentive. We had a cinnamon roll prior to the meal. Fresh and hot. Huge. Big enough for two. Well done! We will go back. We were on a motorcycle ride.
