Caveat: I absolutely loved the workers here, their energy, the owner seemed wonderful and the dĆ©cor incredible. So much good stuff going for here. Thatās why I almost donāt want to write this review as on one hand I feel like I donāt want anyone feeling bad but on the other hand I have to remind myself that most everyone is strong and donāt need pampering and reality checks can be life changingly helpful, not hurtful. Thatās at least what Iām telling myself, I hope it rings true.
But anyway, it all really boils down to the fact that the espresso and the latte were probably the worst Iāve ever tasted in my entire life. I am not some coffee snob or specialist. I have no clue about roasting or temperature control. But imagine an espresso that costs $4 (not that Iām from there, but for reference in Italy itās $1) and tastes like bitter burnt wood and a sour patch kid. Just that sour burnt coffee bean flavor. The latte was not better, it was just that with a latte.
I pray it was a bad batch of beans. Or the machine had an issue today. I really do. Maybe if thatās the case I will take this review down. I wish the owner of the business and all the workers the best but I was like there is no way this is an espresso.
I didnāt ask for a refund, I just didnāt know how to even react at this flavor. It made no sense. I canāt go back. I hope Iām wrong. The workers there really seemed nice. But if a coffee place doesnāt serve even low-average coffee but something much much worse, what am I supposed to do.
Iām done. Sorry guys. Wish...
Ā Ā Ā Read more1st time here: I had the week off recovering from a procedure and could finally come here during the week. Ripple is a lovely space that seems to be connected to several entities, including MIT bookstore. There were 5/6 customers upon opening, so I thought I would utilize the tablets for ordering. I waited 45 minutes...for a SMALL COFFEE with CREAM. I tried to be patient& then realized how long I had been waiting and inquired what was happening? The employees were initially nice until my inquiry. I was told "sorry, the order did not come through" and treated as if I was a difficult customer. I had planned to order food, a pastry, and another coffee as I was there for 2+hours, but I obviously was not going to use the tablet again and I did not feel comfortable interacting with said employee, so I decided to grab food elsewhere. The rub is actually NOT the 45 minute wait but there was no initiative to trouble-shoot or at least make note of the fact that their technology was ineffective. It was a quality cup of coffee but lots of places offer...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst and foremost the location is prime real estate, it's convenient for me being close to where I work and it's right infront of the red line.
Prior to coming here I didn't know what to expect from a Hatian-inspired cafe, but was thoroughly impressed by the good vibes, playlist, and hospitality shown by the staff. I also like the fact that they're from different backgrounds which is a treat for international visitors on MIT premises.
One of my main orders is their Hot chocolate and Bacon Egg and Cheese crossaint which is out of this world and leaves you wanting more. I've tried their other great options like their sweet plantains (which I didn't expect), Tuna Melt, Vegan and Beef patties, Lattes, Passion fruit juice (in-house), and roasted chicken breast bowl just to name a few.
This goes without saying but it's important to note that some days are busier than others therefore patience is key.
Otherwise, I'd highly recommend Ripple to anyone in the area who has some time to...
