First time here last night and unfortunately I think this will be my last visit. I've never been here before but when I came in, I visited with family. They had been following this restaurant online & speaking highly of them from IG for quite a while. Great reviews, amazing pics of food and so naturally I was super excited to try this place since I had never been. The best thing I can say from my experience was it's music, my booth seat & my waiter, Cristiano because he was awesome & very sweet! Loved his fun personality, his charm and was really welcoming. Even though we had hiccups with the food & drinks, he was gracious to accommodate and help us order something else from the menu to help give us a good experience.
Now when it comes to the food, I am not as impressed as I would've liked, which for me I really really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I didn't. For drinks we first ordered 2 "Across the Tijuana Border", which were good and had a nice kick however the overall experience wasn't much of a drink. Had more Tajin flavor than anything. For another round of drinks I just stayed with a water and only a Mango drop drink was ordered made with tequila which was better than the first round of drinks. For apps we got the Shrimp Ceviche, which was good but had an overly amount of red onions. I liked the other veggies in there but the red onions were overkill. I wanted a bit less than the veg and more plantain chips added; but it was good with flavor. For dinner the scallops & gandules risotto was delish! Tender, sweet and the consistency/ flavor was really nice. The grilled octopus salad, unfortunately had to be sent back as it was overcooked/ chewy and overkill with the red onions and veggies. Now I get that it was a salad but I think ratio from salad to octopus could be better plus the overall flavor of the salad tasted bitter and not as pleasant.
Shout out to Cristiano again for helping us find something else on the menu which we settled for Ropa vieja with white rice and beans. Now the rice and beans was great and had depth of flavor, however the rope vieja was too salty and had a sauce added that did not belong in the dish. Now as a Latina, from Puerto Rico I have had many ropa vieja dishes before and was hoping for great flavor. Unfortunately this also fell flat and we did eat the dish but it was more for us feeling hungry and did not want to put Cristiano through another let down of food. When asked regarding the chef in the kitchen, it was noted to us that the original chef was out on surgical leave and they had replacements in the kitchen. Therefore, it was clear that we did not have a great one experience due to original staff not being present. We did not order dessert for the fear that it may or may not have been good and so we just paid the bill and thanked our waiter which concluded our evening.
Again, the atmosphere & restaurant itself here in Cambridge is gorgeous. The vibe, its music and people (staff) is so on point as I did enjoy that. It's what made me so excited to be here but the food is really my only issue. I truly hope that some of these issues can be fixed, the main head chef can make a speedy recovery (come back) and perhaps I may consider going back a second time. However for now, I will say come on in for drinks, music and a good time but be sure when ordering food that you speak with your waiter first, check for the consistency & taste value...
Read moreThis was my first time, and the experience was great overall. First off, make a reservation — it gets busy quickly. Parking is easy- just a minute away at Alewife Garage, and we didn’t have to pay.
The space is stunning — I loved the layout, the spacious seating, and the overall aesthetic. The DJ added a nice touch to the atmosphere. Music was at a perfect volume — enough to enjoy the vibe without overpowering conversation. Just good energy all around.
Let’s talk food and drinks: Appetizer Sampler: The standout. The guava, queso frito, salami, French toast bites, (minus the eggs)? Immaculate. Drinks: The espresso martini was okay, but the coconut mojito was so good. Mains: I had the Tres Leches French Toast — it didn’t quite taste like tres leches to me, but it was still tasty. Scrambled eggs (ordered on the side): Not for me — too wet in texture. Just a personal preference.
Note: If your tab is over $100, a 20% gratuity is automatically included — good to know in advance.
Now the real gem of the experience? Cris, our server. He was warm, fun, super attentive, and had us all laughing. Honestly, he made the entire experience memorable. If I return, I’m absolutely asking for him again.
The only drawback was the wait time for food — it took a bit too long. Hopefully that smooths out as they grow. I’d suggest checking out the menu ahead of time to speed things up.
Overall: Great vibes, solid food, beautiful space, and amazing service. I’ll...
Read moreI don’t like leaving negative reviews, but our experience at this Cambridge restaurant was disappointing enough that I feel compelled to share.
From the moment we arrived, the service was unpleasant. Our waiter was visibly bothered when we leaned on a young woman in our party for support, something that shouldn’t have been an issue. More importantly, we informed the waiter about a nut allergy at our table. Despite this, a dish was served that resulted in an allergic reaction.
When we raised our concern to the manager, instead of offering a sincere apology or a resolution, we were asked, “What would you like me to do?” As a manager, it’s expected that you take ownership and offer a meaningful solution. We asked for the ingredients, and he only brought us information on the oil used. Even more concerning, he stated that they don’t always know what’s in their dishes because some ingredients are ordered in bulk. That contradiction was extremely alarming, especially when dealing with allergies.
The music and ambiance were great, but unfortunately, that was the only highlight of the night. The level of professionalism was very poor, and this was hands-down the worst customer service I’ve experienced in the Boston area. We still paid our bill and left a tip, but sadly, we will not...
