I want to first say Thank You for the amazing experience! My girlfriend recommended this place which I’ve driven by so many times but have never gone in.
Some nice features is that they are located across from Alewife Station which gives access to the redline. It also is located right at the start of route 2 and alewife parkway for even more convenience. There are multiple parking lots outside which means no hassle to find parking!
The occasion was my 22nd birthday and we decided to go and have seafood here at Summer Shack! The hostess’s were very kind as they sat us further away from what seemed to be a work party at the bar section that were a bit loud. I find this courteous to the guests as it shows respect to parties who would prefer to avoid larger crowds.
The drinks were great and the appetizers were delicious! We started off with clams and oysters both on the half shell. All the raw seafood was FRESH and flavorful!
I’ve always been a seafood guy and it was my special day so I got a 1 1/2 pound lobster which was full of meat! For the people who are like “it’s too much work to get the meat out and it’s too messy” please, just order off the kids menu if you want to complain. Some of us enjoy the excitement in eating lobster.
For dessert, i got a slice of cheesecake with a candle to blow out on top which was an amazing touch!
We also had a youngster with us which they provided coloring paper and extra napkins which is another thumbs up for me!
I would like to thank the Summer Shack staff for such an amazing 22nd birthday experience and would highly recommend for any celebration or just a night out!
Look forward to coming back!

We ordered the cornbread, lobster dumplings, the mussels, and a few oysters for appetizers.
The cornbread was almost caramelized, soaked in a delicious molasses butter. The lobster dumplings were an interesting, creative Asian-influence spin on lobster - although not a personal favorite they might be intriguing for some! The mussels came soaked in a lovely white wine and garlic sauce and were very tender. The bread that came with them was excellent dipped in the white wine sauce. And finally, the oysters. This place is well-known for good oysters so we ordered a set of the South Bay Blondes to share. While described in the menu as “pleasantly sweet & briny with whispers of butter, celery and eel grass” I found them to be mild (as far as oysters go) with a sweet aftertaste and little to no brine. They were very fresh and enjoyable - I would certainly recommend them if you enjoy oysters!
Regarding entrees, we ordered the shrimp scampi, angus burger, and some sushi. The shrimp scampi wasn’t anything special to write home about and the sauce was average. The angus burger was good and they easily accommodated the shellfish allergies for one of our party which is fantastic. Finally, the sushi was surprisingly good. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and the magic roll. Both were remarkably fresh, had a large amount of tuna, and the right level of spice for my taste. I have to say that their sushi pleasantly surprised me and I would order it again!
Ultimately, we had a lovely dinner at this restaurant and they were able to easily accommodate shellfish allergies which...
Read moreMy wife and I ordered a few New England classics. Lobster bisque, Clam Chowder and Lobster Rolls. We even tried Lobster potstickers. The bisque and chowder were served quickly and at the perfect temperature to start eating right away. The clam chowder was creamy and brought that warm comfort that you expect when eating a cream-based soup. The potatoes were perfectly done making them easy to enjoy and adding some real heartiness to the chowder. The cheese flavored oyster crackers really accentuated the chowder. It added a crunch and the flavor complimented the dosh well.. The bisque was also creamy with the Sherry flavor coming through just enough for my taste. There were three plump pieces of Lobster meat right in the middle of the dish and there was chopped up Lobster throughout the bisque. It was divine. The potstickers were served with a garnish that was pleasing to the eye. It made the plate look really full. Each potsticker was plump and satisfying. The main course was the Lobster rolls. We got a cold and a hot. The cold is served with lettuce and mayonnaise on a toasted roll while the hot is served with a buttered roll and buttered Lobster. Both were so delicious we couldn't decide which one we liked better. The rolls were perfectly golden toasted and added a delightfully delicate crunch. Overall, a great meal with really good service. Our server kept our drinks full and cleared our empty plates quickly. Would go...
