Genki Ya - Cambridge — Restaurant in Cambridge

We've ordered from them a few times now, but this last one might be the last. It took them over an hour to make the delivery, and it was entirely wrong--I think they gave us the wrong order, because not one part of it was what we asked for. I called the restaurant, but nobody answered until the 4th time, at which point I explained and the woman said the driver would be returning. Half an hour later he did, but not with our food--just to check the receipt against what he had given us. Upon confirming it was wrong, he took the food and said he'd have to return to the restaurant before coming back with our food. He did eventually return with the right order, but this was well over 2 hours after we had originally placed the order. They did not offer any sort of compensation for this, but were somewhat apologetic. It's too bad, because the food is quite good; if everything had gone smoothly, this would be a 4 star review. I knocked it down to 3 for the error, and then down to 2 for not even offering to make up for their mistake. I might be willing to give them another shot simply because the sushi is quite good, but not if I'm in any sort of hurry to eat, and I will be checking the order before I let the...

This is within walking distance for us and we go there a lot..however, we usually drive the 'whole one mile' there. Lazy asses! But this place is very consistent. I really don't have complaints except to say that there is a Spicy Salmon Tartar appetizer that they just cant get out quick enough before your entrees are ready. The Spicy Salmon Tartar appetizer is scrumptious. But coming out a minute or two or WITH the entree isn't good. I've stopped getting it for this reason. Sad...I love it. Hubby and I are in love with the Double Spicy Salmon Roll. DAMN GOOD! Try it....I could eat it daily (3-4 to be exact :). Oh, it would look a lot better for Genki Ya at this location to keep their sushi bar free of clutter. This place is very small so a night out with the kiddies is not recommended here. I just had lunch there. Ordered 2 salmon sashimi sides and since it was lunch time they also gave me some kind of soup and salad. With tip I paid $16 and everything was terrific.

The service was quite fast. I was doing it before an appointment so was worried but I was in and out in about 20 minutes.

The salmon sashimi pieces were big and very fresh. 4 to a side so I got eight. Presentation was lovely. Enough wasabi and enough ginger. Heaven.

The soup had little squares of tofu in it. It was tasty. I don't know if it was miso or not. The salad was not the typical iceburg lettuce. It had small leafy fresh greens. It would have been good even without the dressing.

I ended up at Genki Ya by chance because another sushi place up the street was closed....
