+JMJ Monday 29 August 2022. Ah! My first visit is proving to be a wonderful taste sensation: macaroni and cheese topped with sliced, crispy, crunchy seasoned to perfection chicken thigh topped with a serving of pickles. Never had this food combination before but I know this is a repeater!! Entering the restaurant, one's sense of smell is filled with the smell of fried foods... my favorite!! And, as this is the first visit, I wasn't familiar with the different levels of "heat." Liz, the attendant, was delightful and also very helpful in suggesting what might be the tastiest without scorching my taste buds. She was right on the money for me. My meal was super delicious. And, the portion was enough for two meals. Love the decor of aluminum tables and chairs. I chose to sit outside at one of the picnic tables. Though a little warm, there was a pleasant breeze that wafted through. A great eating experience: great food and very picturesque surroundings. Hope to visit again when I find myself in Camp Verde. Thursday 6 October 2022 Had my usual order of their DELICIOUS Mac&Cheese topped with crispy/crunchy boneless thigh and a substantial helping of their yummy diced pickels drizzled with flavorful hot sauce. Aside from my oh so tasty meal, must say that I like the homey, family like atmosphere. A couple and children were traveling from somewhere and stopped in for lunch. Very friendly and Liz and a young man, perhaps the manager/owner were very welcoming. And, Liz was very kind trying to accommodate my request for the meal to be packaged differently from their usual to-go packaging. What she settled on was just right to ensure that the chicken wouldn't be soggy by time I returned home, an approx drive of 30 minutes. Lastly, the young man brought my meal and served it with a smile. Great food and terrific customer service....

Very last minute decision to come here because My husband and I were at the African safari place nearby and they were not too many restaurants in the area. The food at the safari wasn't the best so we decided to go out and grab something else to eat. Husband found this place and it had good reviews so we decided to give it a go.
Honest Opinion: the hot fried chicken here is so good, it got me hooked on fried chicken! I went and got fried chicken from some other places two times that week! Other places were not as crispy though. The fried chicken here remained crispy even a good 30 minutes after we left the place with the order!
I got the Caesar salad with hot crispy chicken tenders. What a lovely combination! I don't need too much of the Caesar dressing because the chicken was so good with the salad on its own. I could have totally gone for more chicken!
My husband got the AZ Chicken Sandwich but somehow thought of keeping it healthy and went with a mild grilled chicken instead. He's usually the one to go for the crispy stuff but somehow it was me this time. Very good call. The chicken on his sandwich was really fresh and cooked perfectly as well. The flavor of the sauce on the outside didn't stick as much because it was a big chunk of chicken and on the inside ended up being a little bit more plain. It did go well in his sandwich though. There was a lot of sauce in that sandwich!
He also got the Pineapple Chamoy Coleslaw on the side instead of fries. He seemed to like the cause of a. It did have a little bit of a sweet taste to it. I tried some with my salad and it did go well. Didn't end up finishing the entire thing because it was actually quiet a...

Visiting the area with my friend Matthew T, who was showing me around different watering holes. He was lamenting the lack of different food options in Camp Verde. He was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a new chicken spot.
The menu is truly special. Yes, the food items are classic southern fare, but they are all cooked in a way that will make your taste buds dance. The chicken's fried battered coating is indeed crunchy, as others have commented, but deliciously so. The word "hot" is in the name of the restaurant so nobody should be surprised by the Southern kung fu kick in the chicken. My friend and I have low tolerance to spicy foods, so we went with mild and it was perfect. I typically don't eat potatoes, but their sidewinder fries are spectacular. The mac & cheese is phenomenal. It is true: the thick, crispy, juicy, spicy batter can separate from the tender chicken breast, but that's just what happens when you have a truly original recipe in your hands...
On our second visit 4 days later, soon after visiting another swimming hole, they kindly took our order just 15 min before they closed. When we arrived we had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Josh. He told us not to sweat about coming in before they closed. We arrived 5 min before closing. This is exactly what the Verde Valley needed. We will be back. We also give a shotout to all the amazing staff,...
